IHIC (INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE IN CHINA) Program was launched in 2012 by McGill professors and instructors, who intended to contribute their individual efforts to educating and training the world’s top Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Industrial Hygiene professionals in China. Presently, negotiations are underway to launch this program at select Chinese universities. McGill University began the program of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Health about 50 years ago, when John Corbett McDonald, a hygienist and epidemiologist, was recruited from England to strengthen its medical school curriculum at the university. Currently, McGill University offers two graduate degree programs in this field: a Doctorate (Ph.D.) and a Master degree program. Paul Héroux, Ph.D. Director of the IHIC Program Director of the Occupational Health Program, Associate Professor at McGill University Medical Scientist at the Royal Victoria Hospital Dr. Paul Héroux is a scientist with a balanced experience in engineering (15 years) and in the health sciences (15 years). He started his research career at Institut de Recherche d'Hydro-Québec in Varennes, Québec, an internationally reputed electro-technical laboratory. After rounding out his training with courses in Biology and Medicine, he became interested in health problems and has been appointed Associate Professor at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine (Occupational Health) and is also a Medical Scientist in the Department of Surgery of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Dr. Paul has worked with McGill University over 15 years and he has taught two core courses, namely Principles of Toxicology (3 credits) and Physical Health Hazards (6 credits) to graduate students of McGill University. In addition, Dr. Paul is a member of the following Professional Societies: Society for Physical Regulation in Biology and Medicine (SPRBM), International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH), Scientific Committee on Radiation and Work, American Aging Association (AAA), Society of Toxicology, Canadian Society of Toxicology, Bio Electro Magnetics Society (BEMS), IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee 28 on Non-Ionizing Radiation: SC3, 0-3 kHz; SC4, 3 kHz-300 GHz.
