Electronic Library for Minnesota ELM Information & Learning Commons Learning Objectives Overview – In Module 1 you will: 1) learn which agencies, offices, and programs support ELM 2) discover which vendors are included in the ELM collection 3) understand the timeline for the current ELM contract 4) discover all the resources that are in the current ELM collection Content – In Module 2 you will: 1) learn what kinds of topics are covered by the ELM databases 2) learn what content types are available in the ELM databases 3) learn about K-12 targeted ELM databases Basic Searching – In Module 3 you will: 1) learn basic search skills transferable to most any database 2) discover the basics of refining a list of search results Advanced Searching – In Module 4 you will: 1) learn how to create a Boolean search 2) learn how to search indexes 3) discover how to use limiters and refine results using facets in an advanced search Results Management – In Module 5 you will: 1) discover and learn how to use result management tools such as printing, emailing, sharing, saving, search histories, permalinks and more 2) discover the various tools and features available in many databases such as account/folder options, citation generators, translation options and more Setting Up Links – In Module 6 you will: 1) learn about three different ways Minnesota library staff can set up links to ELM databases for their library 2) discover the best way of setting up those links for your library Usage Statistics – In Module 7 you will: 1) learn how the availability of usage statistics are directly impacted by what ELM links are provided on your library website 2) learn about the process of gathering statistics for direct linking and ELM Personalized pages
