Ella White School Mission Statement We, the staff of Ella White School, share the commitment to provide a learning environment in which students can attain their highest academic and personal potential. We believe our school’s purpose is to create enthusiasm for life-long learning, to develop good judgment, to build respect for self and others, and to promote culture awareness and technical literacy in preparation for the world of work. We believe communication and strong working relationships among staff, students, parents, and community are vital to the attainment of these goals.

WE PRACTICE THE FISH PHILOSOPHY AT SCHOOL! PLAY! Play is not an activity; it’s a state of mind that brings new energy and sparks creativity. MAKE THEIR DAY! The world becomes a better place the moment you act on an intention to serve others. CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE! The attitude you have right now is the one you are choosing. Is it the one you want? BE THERE! You can multi-task with “stuff”, but you need to “be there” for people.

As a student, I will…. ™ attend school every day unless I have an excused absence. ™ go to class on time with necessary materials and be prepared to learn. ™ actively participate and complete all assignments and homework to the best of my ability. ™ read at home every day. ™ follow classroom and school rules and respect the rights of others.

As a parent/guardian, I will…. ™ send my child to school on time, appropriately dressed and prepared to learn. ™ provide a quiet place and time each day for my child to do homework. ™ discuss school and classroom rules, provide consequences and rewards and encourage my child to obey those rules. ™ talk to my child about classroom and school activities, and encourage my child to do his/her personal best. ™ attend all scheduled parent/teacher conferences.

As the teacher/staff, I/we will… ™ provide a well-rounded program that will meet the academic, social and behavioral needs of students. ™ communicate with families regarding school activities and the students’ academic progress. ™ involve parents/guardians in activities, programs, projects, the School Improvement team, and the Parent-Teacher Organization. ™ explain my grading system, homework policy, and school rules.
