Term 4 Week 6
Message from the Principal As we draw closer to the end of the year everyone starts thinking about what next year will look like. We have been working on 2018 since midyear with staffing being the most arduous and most important part of the planning. We have a number of staff that will return next year including Mrs Hart and Mrs Zuks. Mrs Hart will return from the beginning of the year and will take on the Kindergarten class. Mrs Zuks will return part way through the year to an early childhood role. We are working closely with central office to backfill staff still on leave and hope to have many fixed term staff back next year but as yet this has not been finalised. As I said staffing is the most important part of the puzzle and until we have that in place we cannot progress with other aspects of planning such as class placement for students. We will begin to look at class lists in the next few weeks and as per previous years I would ask that any pertinent information from parents regarding educational need for their child in 2018 be passed on for consideration. We try very hard to make sure each child is in the best class with the best teacher for them.

Given we have very good teachers across the entire school we will not consider requests that name individual teachers as a preference. We will consider things such as behaviour considerations, peer considerations, educational strengths and needs and case managed issues such as anxiety and disability. Next year we expect close to three hundred and sixty students which is a significant rise on the three hundred and thirty five that we started with in 2017 and the two hundred and eighty seven we had in 2013. It will be a very full school but we will do our best to cater for all requests from parents that are based on the advice above. Yours Sincerely Lee Bates
