City of Hancock Park Shelter Rental Policy I. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to ensure the availability and regulate the use of the west side park shelter. II Fees Use of the park shelter is on a first come first serve basis. To ensure the use of the shelter for a specific date, reservations will be taken. To reserve the shelter, a completed application must be turned in to the City Clerk’s Office along with the fee as established yearly by the Hancock City Council on the Fee Schedule. III General Guidelines and Conditions Shelter rental is available from May 1 – October 1 between the hours of 7am – 10 pm. Reservations can be made as of January 1 of the year in which rental is requested. All garbage is to be placed in the containers provided by the City. If additional containers are needed, all arrangements including cost will be made by the renter prior to the event. Park facilities must be left in the pre-event condition. In the event that the park shelter is being occupied by parties who have not reserved the park shelter, please call the local Police Department at 320-392-5644 or 320-815-8140. A reservation list will be posted in the shelter and at the City Clerks’ office. The City reserves the right to refuse or stop any function that violates any of the said regulations of the policy, federal, state and local laws. All activities must conform to city code. Rental of the park shelter does not include exclusive use of the park facilities. Parking is allowed on the surrounding streets only. Vehicles are not allowed on the grass. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash and cleaned up after. All other and regular park rules apply. IV Alcohol The renter will be subject to ejection and prosecution for the consumption of intoxicating beverages to minors, whether it is occurring with or without the Renter’s knowledge. Absolutely no sale of intoxicating beverages is permitted. Alcohol can only be consumed with in the limits of the shelter when the shelter has been “rented.” It shall be the responsibility of the person or persons signing the rental agreement with the City to make sure that all members of their party clearly understand the rules of the rental agreement with respect to the use and consumption of alcohol with all members abiding by the policy. There are no refunds due to inclement weather. Refunds will only be given is the reservations are cancelled 7 working days or more in advance. Proof of payment for the reserved shelter must be onsite at all times of the gathering allowing all city employees to verify payment has been made. Questions?
