We would like to get Richie McCaw to Brightwater School in a helicopter and we need YOUR help!! Follow this link to nominate Brightwater School: https://www.fonterra.com/nz/en/what-we-stand-for/fonterra-milk-for-schools/richies-milkrun.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA8bnUBRA-EiwAc0hZkzGNhtXxAhh1UqG5wEnLKkkRc6FocEUVlQWCinOnx6qcjR1UbNQihoCyp8QAvD_BwE Brightwater School has been on the milk for schools’ programme since day one. The official opening for the Nelson region was held at our school. The students have the opportunity to drink milk 3 times a week at no cost to the school. Brightwater School has a strong relationship with the Brightwater Fonterra factory, they donated money to the building of the new playground. Having Richie fly in with the milk would definitely be something the kids would remember for a long time. Bike Track Over the last couple of weeks a jump has appeared on the cycle track. This has been lots of fun for the students however the following pictures shows us why we have now removed it from the school setting. After a couple of near misses with established trees today the health and safety of all involved was too great to continue with this activity at school. It was great while it lasted, however all good things must come to an end. We do have a very good BMX track in Brightwater where students can develop their jumping skills. Mr Brodie will be working with students to develop a skills sections through the bush area of the track and possibly a pump track on the hilly part of the school grounds.
Biking and scootering to and from school Yesterday a community member rang the school about an incident that occurred outside the 4 Square shop. An adult was nearly hit when he was leaving the shop by two Brightwater School students on their bikes. Please ask your children to slow down around the shops and give way to pedestrians on both bikes and scooters. Meet the Teacher Due to the recent weather event ‘meet the teacher’ evening was cancelled. All teachers have been asked to get in touch with the parents in their classes to explain class routines and expectations.
