BIOGRAPHY ROBERT A. GOLDMAN, ESQUIRE PRESIDENT, MONTGOMERY HOUSING PARTNERSHIP Robert Goldman has been President of Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) for the past 13 years and has also worked in housing policy on both the federal and local levels. MHP creates quality affordable homes. It accomplishes its affordable housing mission by housing people, empowering families, and strengthening neighborhoods. Formed in 1989 as a 501(c)(3) to meet Montgomery County’s growing need for affordable housing, MHP builds, acquires and rehabilitates apartments, condos and homes for low- and moderate-income families. Through its affiliates, MHP has developed more than 1,400 apartments, condos, and townhomes around the county, including in transit-oriented neighborhoods in Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Rockville, and Wheaton. MHP’s holistic approach to housing includes providing affordable rents, developing educational programs for residents to develop skills that expand their opportunities, and implementing neighborhood revitalization efforts in communities impacted by foreclosures and the downturn in the economy. Goldman is a past president and a current member of the Board of Directors of the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND) as well as a member of the Community Development Network of Maryland. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Washington Housing Council, and the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission. Goldman previously served on the Wheaton Redevelopment Steering Committee and the Long Branch Task Force. Prior to joining MHP in 2001, Goldman worked as a Senior Development Officer at the Enterprise Social Investment Corporation (ESIC) where he was involved in syndicating lowincome housing tax credit projects. He received his Juris Doctorate from UCLA Law School, his Master’s degree in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University, and his Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Duke University. A native Washingtonian, Goldman lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife and daughter.
