Mt. Zion UCC Rental Policy Statement 1.

Mt. Zion UCC Church functions and activities have priority over other renters. Rental applications are considered in the order received.

Priority for using church facilities goes to the following groups:

Hut (H) | Fellowship Hall (FH) | New Building (NB)



A. Church-Wide Events (H, FH, NB)



B. Church Ministries--H, FH, NB) Ex: Bibles and Basketball, Zumba, Boy Scouts, Preschool, Health Dept., Main Street Mission etc. The ministries that meet on a regular basis i.e. Zumba, Bibles and Basketballs, Scouts etc. will sign a one time agreement accepting responsibility for the space.



C. Church member rentals--H, FH, NB) Ex: Family reunions, Christmas/birthday parties, clubs and organizations. A current Mt. Zion member must be an active member and must accept responsibility for all actions of this group and must be present for the event.

D. Nonmember rental--A nonmember or non-profit organization may rent the New Building or the Hut provided the rental is for an appropriate purpose as determined by the Executive Committee of the Consistory and provided further that they comply with all regulations and payment of fees for the use of the building. The Executive Committee of the Consistory may, in its sole discretion, reduce or waive any of the fees below if they determine it would be appropriate to do so. $50.00 $75.00

The cleaning fee is refundable but any donation for the use of the facility is greatly appreciated. A donation does not relieve them of their responsibilities.

If any of the facilities are rented to a non-church member, a member of Mount Zion (or host or hostess) must be present for the event. Compensation will be payable directly to the host or hostess at the rate of $20.00 per hour.

In case of ongoing use, such as weekly or monthly rental of facilities, Mt. Zion reserves the right to preempt use of the facilities. In such cases at least two weeks’ advance notice will be sent to the contact person for the group.

A Certificate of Insurance, if available, should be submitted with your application.

Freestanding candles, devices that night overload electrical circuits, or anything else that might be deemed a fire hazard are prohibited.

Nothing may be attached to walls, pews, ceilings, or floors that might damage same. All decorations must be removed.

Mt. Zion UCC Facility Regulations 1. Smoking anywhere indoors is prohibited at all times. Smoking is only allowed outside the building. It is the responsibility of the renter to clean up any smoking materials dropped on the grounds. Failure to do so may result in cleaning surcharge. 2. All fire lanes adjacent to the church must be kept clear at all times. 3. Mt. Zion UCC musical instruments, including, but not limited to the organ and piano in the sanctuary, may not be used for any purpose by anyone other than the Music Director or Organist without the express written permission of the Music Director or Organist. Do not place anything on top of the instruments, including candles, dishes, plants, decorations, furniture, etc. Do not use piano or organ benches for anything other that their intended purpose. Tenants may be assessed a fee to repair any marks, nicks, scratches, or damage of any kind inflicted during tenant use of the building. 4. The use of alcoholic beverages on the premises is prohibited. 5. Renters are required to remain in areas specified in the agreement, and are responsible for keeping group participants confined to those areas. 6. Mt. Zion UCC is not responsible for any personal possessions belonging to renters or those attending events sponsored by them. Do not leave valuables unattended. 7. In the interest of security, the church staff, may, at their discretion, politely question those on the premises. Renters are also requested to politely question anyone who arouses their suspicions and to alert a church staff member and/or call 911 for the China Grove Police if they feel at all uncomfortable. 8. Children may be present only in the direct care of responsible adults. They must never be left unattended on church premises at any time. 9. No food is allowed in the Sanctuary except for sacraments. 10. No food is allowed in Nursery for Sunday School Rooms except infant formula and breast milk. 11. At the conclusion of each event, upon leaving the building, you must make certain that: • All lights and appliances are off. • All doors are closed and secured • Garbage and trash is disposed of properly in trash bins in church parking lot. • The room is returned to its condition before meeting or event - including the arrangement of tables and chairs. • The floor is swept. • If the kitchen is used: • All eating and preparation surfaces are washed clean. • Coffee grounds are disposed of in the trash. • All dishes or other kitchen items are washed, dried, and put away. • No food items are left on the premises or in the refrigerator or freezer. • All drains are clear of any food remnants. 12. Failure to comply with any of these provisions will void the rental agreement and result in forfeiture

Neither a member nor nonmember may rent an area that the church or a church ministry already has on the calendar. Areas are on a first come/ first served. Although attempts will be made to accommodate everyone, a funeral will have priority over preplanned events.
