3. (a) On T —S plane show a refrigeration cycle 7 comprising isentropic compression of wet vapour (i) to saturation, (ii) condensation of saturated vapour into saturated liquid, (iii) throttling of high pressure saturated liquid into very wet vapour and (iv)

evaporation of wet vapour into Dry Vapour. Name the components in which these processes occur.

(b) In the above simple cycle if the vapour is 7 super heated before compression and liquid sub cools before throttling how will the performance be affected in terms of COP ?

4. An ice plant using water at 10°C produces 480 x 103kg of ice in 24 hours. The plant follows Carnot cycle and works between temperatures of — 5°C and higher temperature of 23°C. Calculate the capacity of plant in TR and power required. 5. (a) State and explain Dalton's law of partial pressure and Gibb's theorem . How are these used in the practice of air conditioning ?
