Message from Head of Elementary ISV wishes to welcome you all back for another school year. Open Door Policy Please remember that the school exercises an ‘open door policy’ for parents. This means that meetings with your child’s class teacher(s) or myself, at the HOE office, may be arranged at any time throughout the scholastic year, with a booked appointment time. Uniform for the PYP Section Please note that PYP students are expected to wear the official ISV classroom uniform at all time unless they are in a PE activity, in which case they will change into the PE uniform. The uniform for G1 - 5 is blue shirt/blouse, black or dark grey trousers or shorts for boys and skirts for girls, black shoes, which can be running shoes (however, not high-heeled trainers). Socks should be of one colour and not too bright. The uniform in Pre-K – K2 is the school polo-shirt and school shorts, black shoes to run around in and, finally, socks of one colour. School Assemblies and Inquiry Journeys Over the year, each class group will celebrate their learning through a class assembly. Parents will be invited to join these assemblies, with the dates posted a couple of weeks prior to the celebration. Additionally over the year, our PYP class groups will ask parents to join them on their personal/collective inquiry journeys. These events lead up to students preparing and presenting their own exhibition journeys when in Grade 5. Again stay tuned for these dates, these being posted a couple of weeks prior to the share. Welcome Parent Meeting On Tuesday, September 12th, the PYP section will celebrate the annual ‘Welcome Parent Meeting’. In this meeting, teachers will share their timetables, routines and expectations for optimal learning within their class groups. On this day, the event will commence at 3:05pm. If you wish to attend, please be prompt so you are able to gather the information required for a successful academic year. School Hours This year, the school times have changed slightly to assist the DP implementation with the allocated minutes for its successful authorization. The school day now commences at 8:25am. The day finishes at 3:05pm for the PYP section; however 3:10pm for the secondary. Saturday Morning Soccer Club Again this year, Mr Alex Cummings will be holding Saturday soccer sessions at the usual times. He will commence these sessions on August 26th. Information relating to the age groups and requirements for these sessions was sent last week from the HOE office.
