Side-to-side steps, unassited floating and front to back roll in chest-deep water. 2. 15 seconds of back and front swim using a combination of arm and leg actions. Level 3 (Orange Patch): Focus on stroke development. Skills mastered: 1. Front and backstroke (front / back crawl) for 15 yards (in chest deep water). 2. Rotary breathing. 3. Treading / floating for 30 seconds.

Level 4 (Green Patch): Focus on stroke improvement and new stroke development. Skills mastered:
Swimming
1. Feet-first entry into chest deep water. 2. Front and backstroke (front / back crawl) for 25 yards. 3. Elementary backstroke and breaststroke for 15 yards. 4. Treading / floating for 1 minute. Level 5 (Blue Patch): Focus on stroke improvement and endurance. Skills mastered: 1. Front and backstroke (front / back crawl) for 50 yards. 2. Elementary backstroke and breaststroke for 25 yards. 3. Treading / floating for 2 minute. Level 6 (Black Patch): Focus on new stroke development, endurance and rescue techniques. Skills mastered: 1. Front and backstroke (front / back crawl) for 100 yards. 2. Elementary backstroke and breaststroke for 50 yards. 3. Sidestroke and butterfly 50 yards. 4. Proper rescue tube use. Instructional Boating: After the completion of all six swimming patches, campers can advance to the boating patch. Focus on rowing and canoeing. Skills mastered: 1. Boating safety and life jacket selection. 2. Row boat / canoe / paddle part identification. 3. Row boat manuvering (forward / backward, pivoting and mooring). 4.
