POLICY:

1. The Board is an equal opportunity employer and supports the rights of all persons with disabilities by providing equal employment opportunities in accordance with the “Accessibility for Ontarians With Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). 2. The Board shall support and participate in the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to employment for persons with disabilities. 3. Where a barrier exists to the employment of a qualified individual with a disability and the barrier cannot be eliminated, an accommodation shall be made to permit the individual to perform his/her duties. 4. Employee Evaluations and employment reviews shall take into consideration the individual accommodation needs of persons with disabilities.

ADMINISTRATIVE

PROCEDURES:

1. In order to provide equal employment opportunities to all persons with disabilities, the Board will adhere to the Final Proposed Employment Accessibility Standard of August 12, 2009, as well as all future amendments to the document. 2. Applications will include a notice to all applicants that the Board will provide accommodations for persons with disabilities.

3. The Board will provide assessment and selection tools in accessible formats to candidates for employment opportunities. 4. Accommodation requests for employees will follow the Management Guidelines for Accommodation document on the Board’s website. 5. Individual Accommodation Plans will be provided to each employee including but not limited to medications, emergency evacuation, modification to furniture and/or equipment and access.
