Parent Teacher Conferences Teachers are preparing schedules for parent conferences. It has been our experience that these conferences bring about improved understanding of the child’s progress at school and at home. Listed below are the Howard School teacher conference times. However, earlier times may be adjusted to meet the needs of the parents/teachers. Friday Monday Tuesday

Report Cards The sixth grade will receive their report cards on Monday, November 13, to make it easier for parents to decide what teachers they need to see for Parent Teacher Conferences. The 4th & 5th grades will receive their report cards on Friday, November 17. Veteran’s Day In honor of Veteran’s Day there is no school on Friday, November 10, 2017. November Early Release Days and Holiday Schedule To allow time for parent conferences, all students will be dismissed at 11:30 on: Friday, November 17; Monday, November 20; and Tuesday, November 21. Wednesday, November 22, will be an early release day to begin our Thanksgiving Holiday. Dismissal will be at 11:30 on that day. School will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and on Friday, November 24. School will reopen on Monday, November 27. MA Safe Routes to School We would like to learn how our students get to and from school in order to plan safe and healthy transportation options. Please complete one survey (www.masaferoutessurvey.org) for each child K-8th grade by Thursday, November 16. The survey will take less than 3 minutes to complete. Please select “West Bridgewater” and then your child’s school. If our school receives a 50% response rate or higher we will earn a $250 Visa gift card to be used towards walking/biking initiatives! [email protected]. Lifetouch Picture Retakes Lifetouch is scheduled to be at the Howard School on Wednesday, November 15 for picture retakes and students who were absent for the first round. If your child is doing a picture retake, please send in the original pictures you received from Lifetouch for your child to give to the photographer. If you like the original picture better you will still be able to order them.
Library News A reminder to students to return overdue library books. Please look through your locker and home for any library books that you may have forgotten about. School Committee Meeting Our next School Committee meeting will be on Monday, November 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Learning Commons area. Lunch/Recess Monitor Substitutes Needed The Howard School is in need of Lunch/Recess Monitor Substitutes. If you are available on an on-call basis between the hours of 11:00-1:30 Monday through Friday, or occasionally, please call the Howard School office. We have a strong team of Lunch/Recess Monitors at our school, but on occasion they do need to be out of school.
Geo Bee Tryouts! Geography Bee Tryouts will be held in two weeks for 4th & 5th grade students and the following week for 6th Grade. Here are the dates: 5th Grade: Nov. 13 from 2:30 to 4:00 PM in Room 19 (Monday) 4th Grade: Nov. 15 from 2:30 to 4:00 PM in Room 19 (Wednesday) 6th Grade: Nov. 13 during each Social Studies Class (Monday) If your child is interested in competing they should let their homeroom teacher know. [email protected]. Thank you! Socktober We are thrilled to announce the Howard School has collected 532 pairs of socks to deliver to the homeless during the month of “Socktober”. Kids can, and do make a difference! Daylight Savings Time Remember to “fall back” this Saturday night for Daylight Savings Time. It will be brighter in the morning, but darker in the afternoons as our seasons get ready to change.
Inclusion Matters Please join Inclusion Matters for a meeting on Monday, November 6, from 6:00-7:30 p.m., with The Federation for Children with Special Needs as they present to our group "Parents, Students and Schools as Partners". This meeting will help parents navigate the special education process and learn about the rights and responsibilities in special education.
PTO WHAT THE HECK? WRITE A CHECK: Back by popular demand. This is a quick and easy way to contribute to the WBPTO without the pressure and worry of trying to sell something. There is nothing to buy and no time involved. Any donation is greatly appreciated! Make checks payable to “WBPTO” and include your phone number. Checks can be given to your child’s teacher anytime during the year.
