Moderator Dr. Angela Grace, Registered Psychologist Dr. Angela Grace is a Registered Psychologist passionate about the prevention and treatment of eating disorders and obesity in youth. She recently completed her Ph.D. at the University of Calgary with a focus on collaborative approaches to eating disorder and obesity prevention in schools, and facilitates workshops provincially & nationally for educators and health care providers. She is a co-chair of the National Initiative for Eating Disorders, and the co-ordinator for Calgary’s 2017 Eating Disorder Awareness Week. She has a private counselling practice, Heart Centered Counselling, focused on treating eating disorders and trauma in youth and adults.
Panel Members Dr. April Elliot Dr. April Elliott is a Paediatrician and Adolescent Medicine Specialist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Calgary. Over the last 15 years Dr. Elliott has been instrumental in developing Adolescent Health as a sub-specialty in Paediatrics in Calgary.To date, she has numerous publications and presentations in adolescent health on subjects such as Eating Disorders, Adolescent Development, Mindful Communication, Substance Abuse, Gender Issues and Street-Involved Youth Health. Dr. Elliott and Dr. Monique Jericho, a child an adolescent psychiatrist, have joined their professional expertise and together have developed experiential workshops that foster self-regulatory skills in professionals. These skills facilitate successful encounters with challenging interpersonal situations and help the professional find joy and satisfaction in their work through techniques such as mindfulness. Adele Fox, Registered Psychologist Formerly an Occupational Therapist, Adele was fortunate to train and be mentored by Canada's leading eating disorder professionals at the Toronto General Hospital in 1998. She then went on to become a Registered Psychologist, relocating to her home province of alberta, and has continued to provide services for adolescents and adults in her private practice, Myndcare. Sarah Higgins, Registered Dietitian and Owner of FED Nutrition Sarah is passionate about partnering with individuals and families to work through disordered eating and thinking patterns and to provide a safe space to establish a relationship with food and body that aligns with ones own hopes and goals. FED nutrition was founded on the desire that people feel empowered to eat the FOOD necessary to obtain the ENERGY for the purpose of being able to go in the DIRECTION they want for their lives (FED). Cendrine Tremblay, Silver Linings Foundation Cendrine Tremblay, MBA, CGA, is the Board Chair of Calgary Silver Linings Foundation and the mother of a young adult who struggled with an eating disorder for a number of years. She and a number of other committed parents, mental health professionals and business leaders, founded Silver Linings Foundation to expand and enhance eating disorder care in Alberta by establishing a *residential eating disorder treatment centre in southern Alberta. *By "residential" the foundation envisions a home-like setting where clients can reside full time for a number of weeks to work with professionals towards their recovery.
