Why a Master’s degree? Today’s societies face great macro-structural changes. One development, among others, is of central importance: the emergence of new forms of governance within state and society. There is an increased demand for innovative problem solving across all sectors. Facing these challenges, future leaders from all countries and societies, dealing with public affairs in state administration, in business and in civil society need to be better educated and trained. Epoka University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations devotes itself to this task. The University’s location in Tirana, Albania, means that students and researchers are only a short distance away from an extraordinary range of opportunities, many of them tailored to suit the interests of the students and professionals. The research and studying is at the centre of multicultural setting, increasing intercultural understanding among peoples, and better quality in higher education. The Department aims to train highly skilled leaders.

Training a new kind of leaders With its existence the Department of Political Sciences and International Relations sets standards: in academic organisation, in content and quality of teaching, and not least in collaboration with society. Only a short period of time is required to effect great change in this day and age. The Department equips people with the skills they need to deal with contemporary issues. The Department provides its students with qualifications needed in the increasingly interlinked world. Department graduates find career opportunities at home and abroad in the private as well as the public sector, particularly in organizations affiliated with the United Nations and the European Union, in the ministries, in universities and the media, and in private companies. As this range of career options indicates, the Department’s educational philosophy is to provide students with intellectual depth and with the necessary tools to think independently, to question and criticize, engage in collaborative work and be open-minded about alternative points of view. The Department has therefore adopted an interdisciplinary perspective and a multidimensional approach to the accumulation of knowledge.
