Erasmus Policy Statement (Overall Strategy) The Centro San Juan Bosco - FP Juan Solé - Salesianos Cartagena - is a statesubsidized school founded in 1970. It is located in Los Dolores, an outlying district in Cartagena (Murcia). Cartagena is a coastal Mediterranean town, situated in the south east of Spain. The original contribution of the Salesian pedagogy to Education is called Preventive System. This system is based on reason, religion and love. Reason meant as:  Help to value things in depth and critical sense.  Source of hope in the human person and in the positive aspects of present culture. Religion lived as:  Respectful attitude for the different religious options.  Acceptance of the truth and the good existing in each person. Love experienced as:  Unconditional acceptance of people.  Sharing the others’ happiness and sadness. Our educational offer is very wide and varied, covering almost all compulsory and non-compulsory educational stages, except the university. We work with preschool (3 courses with 3 lines), primary (6 courses with 3 lines), secondary and VET students. We offer two stages of Secondary Education: Compulsory Secondary Education (4 courses with 3 lines), and Baccalaureate or A level (2 courses with 2 lines). Our Vocational training Education, offers the following specialties in Middle Grade level: Electromechanical Vehicles, Welding and Boiler, Telecommunication Facilities, Electrical Installations and Administrative Management. Additionally, the following Higher Grade Level: Telecommunication System and Computer Systems, Industrial Automation and Robotics. The center also offers Initial Vocational Training (Basic Vocational Training) in Auxiliary Operations in Electrotechnical and Communication facilities, Auxiliary Services in IT, Auxiliary Operations in Welding, structural Steelwork and Technoplastics (2 lines) and Auxiliary Operations in Vehicle Maintenance. In total our school has about 1600 pupils whose age varies from 3 to 21. The teaching staff consists of 125 persons, who are profession teachers and general subjects’ teachers. Likewise, during evening hours courses of Continuous and Occupational Training are held, managed by the Training and Employment Department of the Centre. All this teaching is possible thanks to the wide installations owned by the Centre, and besides classrooms and workshops, it should be emphasized the existence of Last revision: April 2015

a dining room, a theatre, a lecture room, many sport tracks and fields, gymnasiums, laboratories, courts and many garden zones. Besides, we have implemented since 2004 a Quality Management System based on Regulation UNE-EN ISO 9001:2008, with Register Number ES-0106/2004. It comprises all educational stages of the educational system imparted in the Centre, including Professional Training for Employment. During our short life as European Cell Department, important advances have been carried out. First of all with the participation in an eTwinning cooperation Project with several European schools (Christmas Cards). Second, we have applied for several Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 projects (8 about secondary school and 6 about VET) during the Call 2015. Third, we are running a KA1 Erasmus+ project granted last year. In particular, two VET teachers have done job shadowing in Austria and two VET students are performing their traineeships in several Ireland firms. Focusing on Professional Training and such as we state in the Cycle Curriculum Project, one of our fundamental aims is to promote and contribute to the integration of our students in the performance of practices in firms of member states, as well as warrant the quality of their training and improve their knowledge of a second language, different from their mother tongue. Our Centre participates in the BEDA (Bilingual English Development & Assessment) Project since the 2012-2013 course. BEDA is a flexible program that efficiently helps to improve the teaching of English, managed by Madrid Catholic Schools and Cambridge English Language Assessment. At present the Centre has a group of 30 teachers continually trained since the Project was launched, divided in three groups of different levels (A2, B1 and B2) with the aim of getting an English certificate in the European setting. Likewise, the training of the students in reduced groups has been increase during the present course. Our School will begin their bilingual teaching during the course 15/16. Initially, the bilingual program will start in Primary Education and we hope in a few years covering all education stages, including Higher Education. Further, the course 15/16 will be the first in which our Higher Education sophomores may make their studies in dual mode. To continue our institution's international strategy we believe that is extremely necessary our Higher Education students may have the opportunity to make their traineeship in a European company. Our short term short aim is that our School can have a bilingual and dual Higher Education.

Institution's strategy for the organisation and implementation of international cooperation projects within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme The commitment of our Centre for the participation in European projects under the Erasmus+ 2014-2020 programme is evident. Our strategy for the years to come is to internationalize and modernize our Centre in order to meet new employment and training needs which are emerging in our society. We think that the active presence of our students and teachers in Europe is fundamental for their personal development and improvement. Since the recent creation of the Europe Cell Department in our Centre, it has been promoted the participation of European projects under the Erasmus+ programme. In this way, once the needs of our Centre have been detected, the requests for several learning mobilities (KA1) and of strategic associations (KA2) for Secondary Education and for VET have been submitted, in the second announcement of the Erasmus+ programme. In order to have continuity in the projects in our school, we consider necessary to have projects also in Higher Education and therefore we are very interested in get the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. The target aimed by our Centre is to create strategic alliances to promote cooperation among the different institutions of Professional Training and other business organizations interested. At present, the Europe Cell Department is working on the creation of a network of collaborator members, from contacts obtained from other educational centres of European Professional Training. These members are being obtained through the eTwinning platform and the web page www.salesians-europe.org where contact can be established with other Salesian centres in Europe. Through the website EURES for working mobility in Europe and the website of School Education Gateway, our students can discover firms which are adequate for their profile, in order to be able to carry out their training period in Europe.

Expected impact of our participation in the Erasmus+ Programme on the modernisation of our institution. In order to attain from here to 2020 a 40% of young men with complete or equivalent higher education, is necessary to sensitize our students about the importance of having highly qualified workers in the present society. For that purpose, we will offer in our Centre a direct guidance to those students who finish their secondary education course and medium degree training cycles, so that they choose higher education studies. Through the tutors’ individual tutorships, the reduction of early leaving higher education cycles will be attempted, insisting on the advantages of having higher education. Besides, from the Centre it will be assured that no student with low economic resources is out of the educational system on account of being in a disadvantaged situation. The Parents Association of the Centre will take special care of this fact. In order to achieve this aim, at the beginning of each course an analysis of the labour market in different places (Cartagena, Murcia, Spain and the European Union) will be carried out, in order to offer in the Centre the higher education most demanded by firms. Cooperation agreements will be signed with different private firms, in order to collaborate with the Centre in the knowledge of the latest technologies applied in the firms. Finally, dual training will be promoted, so that the students can combine work with studies in a real and effective way. Likewise, the use of the employment agency of the Centre will be promoted, in order to facilitate labour insertion of those students who get the certificate. In order to increase the number of students carrying out a period of studies or training abroad, the mobility in study programmes will be systematically integrated, facilitating from every field the participation of our students in European projects under the Erasmus+ setting. Participation of at least two students of each specialty will be attempted, and equality between men and women will be promoted, since we think that all students have the same rights and duties. Our students will be encouraged to develop their enterprising capacities by promoting their participation in different innovation projects within the business environment. Every year our students participate in Don Bosco national award, Spainskills, and International Society of Automation. Besides, thanks to different agreements of our School with the Cartagena University, transfer of knowledge between both institutions will be facilitated, either by means of the use of shared spaces or by means of the collaboration between teachers of both Centres. Students will finance their stay abroad by means of the Erasmus+ programme. Besides, the Centre could contribute with a grant for the insurance of the student abroad. Due to our philosophy, if there are students who are adequate for mobility, but cannot carry it out for economic problems, they could be economically helped thanks to the Parents Association and alternative source of income.
