Minshew Elementary School PTA Newsletter December 15, 2017
Minshew friends,
c
We have a community known for giving back! Thank you to the volunteers who helped us wrap presents this week and to those that are helping us host the Teacher Luncheon next Wednesday. Minshew PTA is overwhelmed with gratitude for your generosity to our teachers & for helping during the Red Door Food Pantry campaign. Donation bins are set up in the front foyer with labels for each grade level. The final day for sending your donations is December 18th…thank you for helping us “Take What You Need – Give What You Can.” Minshew’s Talent Show team is hosting a Workshop next Wednesday, December 20th starting at 3:15pm in the gym. Remember, the signup is for registered students so please use the signup link to snag your spot. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090d48a9aa2fa2fa7-talent Don’t forget to let the front office know if your student needs a change of transportation and make sure you accompany your student to the workshop. To all our PTA members, please don’t forget to attend PTA’s General Member’s Meeting which will be held on Thursday, January 18th at 6:15pm. During this important meeting, we will appoint the 2018-2019 nominating committee and vote on three new budget amendments. The amendments are for: a request from Student Council to purchase a Minshew Colts mascot; an increase in the Music endowment for the purchase of a Bass Xylophone; and, an increase to the budget to cover the cost of rubber mats for the new Gaga Pit. Additional information will be sent out by email to all registered PTA members. As the year winds down, I want to take an opportunity to praise all Minshew students and families for everything you do to stay active in our community. The Minshew commUnity is strong because of YOU! Enjoy your holiday break, safe travels, and Happy New Year! Until next time, Miriam Richert Minshew PTA President

Dearest Minshew Families,
We ask that you send December’s box Tops in by Dec. 21st please.
Winter Break is almost here! We have another busy week ahead of us as we finish out this calendar year. We’d like to thank all of you who help out at Minshew whether in small or not so small ways. Thank you for your time.
Thanks so much to all of you who so diligently clip & send in Box Tops! Please continue to do so during the holidays!
We look forward to visiting the Winter Parties in the classrooms next Friday. Please remember your ID and be patient with us as we channel a wonderful crowd of parents and children in and out through the office on that day.
A Public Service Announcement for Mckinney’s project Graduation:
We have been saying it all along, but would like to say it again…without these wonderful children and our amazing parent partnerships we could not be the “best school in the universe”. We truly know we have something special and it comes from each of you. We are blessed to be touched by so many great students and their families and Minshew’s staff! We hope you will all enjoy a safe and healthy Winter Break. We look forward to seeing you all back in January for more learning and discovery! **

We need your help! Why are we asking for your help when you don’t have high school students? Because in 2017 Project Graduation didn’t take place due to a lack of community support. And we want to make sure that never happens again! We need to keep Project Graduation going strong so it’s there when your students are seniors. Why? Because Project Graduation keeps graduating seniors (and the community) safe by providing a lock-in style event with fun activities, entertainment, food and prizes (including a FREE CAR!). It is supported and run ENTIRELY by volunteers, parent groups, booster clubs, and local businesses. You have the potential to save lives – please consider supporting this worthwhile event. What can you do to help? It’s simple…we need sponsors, prize donations and volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Nancy Nori at (716) 517-5090 or
[email protected]. We also invite you to visit our website at http://www.mckinneysproject-graduation.com/ and click on the buttons to donate or volunteer.
Thank you to those of you who have already brought in items for the Red Door Pantry for our December Food Drive. We will be collecting items until the middle of next week; we sent home a list and have it posted it on our FB page; feel free to wander from the list a bit as well. Our goal is to provide a good variety of offerings to those in need.
