Calumet County Council Old Business: Read the proposed By Laws change to clarify how total membership is determined when assessing dues. After a discussion was held, a motion to accept was made by Tom DeTroye, and a second by Ed Welch to vote on change. Motion was passed unanimously. Membership all posts in County are 85%, Darboy is 100%, we should be 90% on February 10, on March 95%, and on April 7 100%. Todd Bremmer mentioned National vs State regulations for the 100% membership mark by December 31st. Will try to get this clarified. Commander Wayne reported on the Sixth District Mid-Winter Conference. Wayne reported he attended the workshop on baseball, a workshop on Roberts rules of Order, District and County Commanders, Public speaking and Post administration, and funeral honors / MI training. Mr. Jim Johannas gave the presentation on M1 training; he will fix any post rifles for no cost, only a few dollars for gas and parts if needed. Mr. Johannes phone # 608-265-2323. E-Mail [email protected] The blood drive was a disappointment, due to computer malfunctions all day, not one drop of blood was collected. Wayne felt the Conference was very good for anyone who wants to go to the workshops and learn how to be better prepared. New Business: The American Legion Birthday Party is set for March 9, at Brant, (Neighborhood Bar & Grill). Petition for POW/MIA stamp has only 4 signatures so far. Want to get more signatures to petition the Post office to issue this stamp. Commander has petition & will leave on table for signatures. Meeting in April is incorrect. It is listed as the 22nd and should be April 24 at Hilbert. If any doubts, check with Stockbridge Post 128 website where the dates are listed correctly. Tom DeTroye reported that Ken Rynnes will have about 200 American Legion Motorcycle Riders at New Holstein Post 124 on Wednesday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m. where they will be collecting donations for Children of post 9/11 veterans killed in action, for advanced education of the children. Every post is asked to donate $150 to $200 for this worthy charity. It will be held at Kiwanis Park in New Holstein. The Post 124 will handle all workers for the brat fry. Next Council meeting will be held at Darboy Post 265 on February 27, 2014. Good of the American Legion: None There being no more business to come before the meeting a prayer was said by Chaplin Elroy Ecker and a hand salute was rendered as the colors were retired at 8:45 p.m. Thank you to Post 126, Brillion for hosting the January 24 meeting and for refreshments and lunch.
