The Bird’s Eye View  Inspiring active learners and responsible citizens…

May 18, 2018 Director’s News By Ms. Jackson

I’m looking forward to the End of Year Program on Thursday, May 24th. Thank you to Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville for allowing our school to have this program there. The students are working hard in their preparations. Students from all grades will be participating in many different ways. Grades k-4 will be singing. Grade 4 will be playing their recorders. Students in grades 5-8 will treat us all to another band concert. Then, many students from various grades will be participating in the school talent show. CCS is so fortunate to have such a talented student body and such a dedicated community of educators and parents! The program will begin at 6:00 pm. CAPT met last night to plan for many of the end of year activities. We do need volunteers for these events. We need 4 volunteers to help organize during the talent show at the End of Year program. We also need 10-12 volunteers to help with field day for grades K-5 on June 11th. Middle School has a separate event planned on that same day as their field day. Next Friday is an early release day for our students in grades 1 - 8. Dismissal will be at 11:45. Current Kindergartners will have the day off. That morning we are having Kindergarten Orientation for the new Kindergarteners for school year 2018-2019. Monday, May 28th is Memorial Day and there will be no school. June is just around the corner. Let's all continue to do our best to finish the year on a strong note! Enjoy the weekend!

Band News By Doc Miller We have one more band performance this year, and that performance will be a part of the End-of-The-Year event held at Faith Baptist Church on May 24 beginning at 6 PM. Information for Parents: 5th Grade Band students need to be on the stage at 5:30 PM, properly dressed in black and white, for warm ups. Middle School Band students need to be on the stage at 5:45 PM, properly dressed in black and white, for warm ups. (Please make sure shoes are solid black!!!) Let’s leave instrument cases in cars except for percussion. I am very pleased that we will have several small ensembles or solos from the band department being performed as a part of the Talent Show portion of the evening! Bravo!! Both band classes have learned new music in the very short time since our late April performance. I might add that they have done a remarkable job learning the new music in a little under a month. We have not had to work on tone quality, articulations, or intonation very much because these valuable skills are already in place!

K-4 parents: Please check  Friday Folders for the words  Let’s keep supporting the efforts of our to the songs that students will  musicians at CCS! Invite plenty of people to perform at the End of Year  the concert! Program. Thank you!
