Report Cards Midterm report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, April 26th. It is a great opportunity to reflect upon the first part of the semester and to set goals for the remainder of the semester.

ONTARIO SECONDARY SCHOOL LITERACY TEST Grade 10 Students will be writing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy test (OSSLT) on Tuesday, April 10th. A practice test was done on Thursday, February 15th to give students an opportunity to brush up on their skills before the OSSLT in April. For additional information and practice, the EQAO website is a great resource - www.eqao.com.
NELSON MEDALS If you haven't already been doing so, start thinking of everything that you have been involved in at Nelson so far. Collect this information and submit your Nelson Medal application to Mrs. Raithby in Student Services by June 1st. GO FOR THE GOLD, Nelson!

Who will represent YOU at commencement? Start thinking about who would be a great student to represent YOU at commencement in June. Things to consider: Involvement in many aspects of Nelson High School Will represent diverse groups of the graduating class with honour and dignity Has achieved a high academic standing Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and shows integrity and respect for others Possesses public speaking skills Will be continuing their studies at a post-secondaty institution next year
GRADUATING STUDENTS Important Information: Check your OUAC and OCAS accounts regularly for mark transmissions, offers of admission, important messages, deadlines for supplemental requirements, etc. If you have taken a course outside of Nelson, please let us know in Student Services so that your OUAC and/or OCAS accounts can be updated Continue to check in Student Services for scholarship opportunities that are due in April and May Remember that you MUST complete your 40 hours of community involvement in order to graduate. Hand in your hours to Student Services before May 1, 2018
Gown Rental Fee - Due by April 23rd If you will be attending commencement, please be sure to hand in your $25 gown rental fee to Mrs. Thomblison in the Main Office by April 23rd.

Volunteer Hours
Important information will be discussed at this assembly, so it is imperative that all potential grads attend, even if they have a spare.
Remember that all students need 40 hours of community involvement in order to graduate. Note that all community involvement hours must be pre-approved before completion. You can pick up the forms in Student Services and on the Student Services website. A list of eligible activities is also available on the Student Services website: https://tinyurl.com/NELStudentServices. Don't forget that you'll need to have the hours signed off by someone at the organization where you have volunteered. Visit Student Services to check out the volunteer bulletin board, or take a look at www.volunteerhalton.ca to get some ideas!
This year's grad assembly will be taking place on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018.
Applied for out-of-province post-secondary? Students who have applied for out-of-province college or university will need to let Mrs. Everett in Student Services know so that an updated transcript and/or cover letter can be sent out on their behalf. Students must supply the correct mailing address, contact person and, if required, Student ID#
OUAC & OCAS Grade Transmission Date & Full Disclosure Semester 2 Please note that the full disclosure date for Semester 2 (May 3) is after the OUAC and OCAS mid-term grade transmission date. If a student does not wish a grade to be transmitted, he/she must drop the course on or before Friday, April 20th.
