Míle Buíochas World Mission Sunday Next Sunday - 18th October 2015 At Masses next weekend, the 2nd collection, the usual SHARE Collection will be replaced by the World Mission Sunday Collection. Throughout the world the faithful are reminded of the universal call to Mission of all the baptized. They will be invited to contribute what they can to support the development and growth of young churches internationally. This special Sunday in October provides Catholics with the opportunity to unite with their missionary sisters and brothers overseas, and to recommit themselves to bringing the Joy of the Gospel to everyone they meet in their daily lives at home and at work. In October and especially on Mission Sunday Catholics are invited to be specifically conscious of the Church's missionary activity abroad through prayer, sacrifice and financial contributions.
The funds collected in all Churches throughout the world on Mission Sunday, are coordinated by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, founded by Pauline Jaricot 190 years ago. The funds are used to assist Churches who need financial
[email protected] support and directed towards communities in need, both spiritually and materially. or

Warning! Here are four terrible things that might happen to you if you start singing…………………. Singing can become addictive - once you start singing it's very hard to stop. It's such an enjoyable activity that you will start noticing it everywhere and begin to take every opportunity you can to sing!!! Singing takes up valuable time - you start by joining a choir, rehearse once a week, perform at weekends, you'll also be listening to more CDs, checking out YouTube videos, learning lyrics, etc., Then there's a weekend workshop and a social event !!!! …. Before you know it, it's taken over your whole life!!!!!! You will become unbearable to live and work with - singing makes you so happy that you will wear a constant smile and be humming along all day long in a state of bliss much to the annoyance of everyone around you (who will really be insanely jealous)!!! Singing stops you sleeping - after rehearsal or performance you will be so buoyed up with enthusiasm and joy that you will find it hard to come down off cloud 9. Not only that, but you'll have all those wonderful tunes bouncing around inside your head. Sleep - who needs it??!!!! So be warned! Approach singing with caution! Once you start you might not be able to stop! And it's like a virus which you can easily pass onto someone else! Remain alert at all times in case the bug gets you !!! (taken from Chrisrowbury.com) How many times have you said "I'd love to join a choir" or "I miss singing" well don't let another year go by. Do something about it now. SAGGART CHURCH CHOIR is looking for new members to join our open, friendly and welcoming group. There is no membership fee/subscription. There is no upper age limit. There is no audition. There is no obligation to read music. Do you love singing? Well, we do too so perhaps we're the choir for you. Come along to rehearsal and see how we suit you. Have you already heard us and thought "ooooh I can't sing like that, I'm not that good"? We are a group of ORDINARY voices, who, when we sing together, can make quite an EXTRAORDINARY sound. Come on, be part of it!! We rehearse on Monday nights (except bank holidays) at 8:00pm in The Church of The Nativity of The BVM, Saggart and we sing at 11:30am Mass most Sundays. If you fancy giving us a try why not come along next Monday night. Doors open at 7:30pm if you'd like to come a little early and introduce yourself or contact me, Hazel, on 0878509906. Looking forward to seeing you!!!! Changing School Principals - Holy Family NS Rathcoole and St. Finian’s NS Newcastle Recently, there has been a change of School Principal in two of our parish schools. In Holy Family NS Rathcoole, Martin Hoban has retired after 40 years service in the school including 19 years as School Principal. Colm Byrne is the new principal in Holy Family. In St. Finian’s NS Newcastle, Eamonn Scully has retired after 36 years service in the school, including 22 years as principal. Marianne Ui Fhoghlu is the new principal in St. Finian’s. We thank Mr. Hoban and Mr. Scully for their dedicated service to the school and the parish, and we pray that God will grant Mr. Byrne and Ms Ui Fhoghlu every blessing in their new role. Do This In Memory A Parent’s Perspective Next weekend, the first ‘Do This In Memory’ Masses for 2015-16 will be celebrated in our parish. Here’s something a mother from another parish wrote about ‘Do This In Memory’: “I became involved in the Do this in Memory Programme last year as my eldest daughter prepared for her first Holy Communion. As parents we have a huge role to play in the formation of our children's religious education. Sometimes we may worry that we are not equipped sufficiently to do this. I personally found this programme and being part of the parent group hugely beneficial in providing me with the group support and materials to go through this journey with my daughter. The activity sheets in the THUMB book and the Grapevine provided us with a good discipline to keep us in focus throughout the year at home and lighting the candle at this time added a special touch. The programme deepened the meaning of First Communion for our whole family - for us it wasn't just one day it was for the whole year and beyond.”
