[email protected] 541.430.8605) http://sites.google.com/site/maristlaxclub/ Equipment The following equipment is considered personal and each player will need to acquire it individually. • Gloves • Shoulder pads • Elbow Pads • Mouth guard • Stick – If you are playing defense, you will need a long stick, if offense a short stick. If you are not sure, please contact Josh for some idea. • Helmet NOTE: Gloves and Helmets must be NAVY blue as the dominant color and may have either gold or silver as an accent.
Team Fees Dues are $250/player. Lacrosse is a club sport and receives no direct funding from Marist. So, team dues cover league fees, team equipment, coaches salaries, and other miscellaneous items. We are also still paying Marist back for new uniforms that were acquired in 2007. They were gracious enough to “float” us a portion of the uniform costs. These dues can be made payable to Marist Boys Lacrosse Team Please give or send them to Dave Walters, 1370 Dalton Drive, Eugene, OR 97404. Dave maintains an account at WaMu for us. We will need to have all dues paid by the first day of practice (February 23) but have several significant expenses prior to this time, so early payment would be appreciated. Ins urance Each player is also required to carry insurance at certain liability limits and with certain specific language. This does not reflect any perceived dangers about lacrosse, but is a requirement for all sports and clubs that are not “officially” school-sponsored. Once Lacrosse becomes a recognized school sport, the school provides the insurance. The most appropriate coverage we could locate is through the US Lacrosse association www.uslacrosse.com. With an annual membership ($35 per person) comes insurance that will meet the Archdiocese requirements. Each player will need to acquire a US Lacrosse
membership individually. A copy of the completed application should be given to Coach Bongiorno. We may also need to get copies of membership “cards” at some point as well – so hang onto them. Marist will require evidence of insurance before practices can begin. The membership is good for 1 year and comes with a variety of other benefits – take a look at the website. Schedule Informal Conditioning has been occurring for several weeks and is being led by senior players. Attendance at these is not required. However, it will be important to be in good shape as the season begins so interested students should contact Jon or Kevin Walters (senior) to find out the details. Practices – February 23 1st Game Season – March 16 Last Game – May 9 Fundraising we could use some help from parents on this item. If you have an interest, please contact
. Any funds generated will be used to lower fees in future years and/or augment fees for students who have difficulty in paying. Team Dinners As with most Marist sports, we will be looking for volunteers for Team dinners the evening before Home games. More on this as the season progresses.
