Today, more than ever, Georgia is close to Europe, EU Ambassador to Georgia Janos Herman stated at the opening of the EU-Georgia Awareness Campaign attended by the Prime Minister of Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili addressed the event’s participants and emphasized the beginning of a very important campaign seeking to draw Georgia and the Georgians closer to Europe. “Today our country, with its ancient history, culture, and rich traditions, has an opportunity to draw closer to the democratic European family, to make its contribution to diverse and rich European culture and to the honorable cause of ensuring peace and security. Very soon, we are expecting an official approval for visa-free travel, yet another tangible result of our European integration,” the Prime Minister stated. His Excellency Mr. Giorgi Gakharia- Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Ms. Keti Bochorishvili- Deputy Minister of Economy & Sustainable Development of Georgia attended the meeting as special guests and addressed the Board Members. Mr. Fady AslyChairman of ICC Georgia has overviewed the business climate and key challenges currently facing businesses. Eric Livny-President of ISET and Chairman of the Economic Commission of ICC Georgia presented the analysis of the impact on GDP growth of 10 points Action Plan proposed by the government of Georgia. Mr. Nikoloz Khundzakishvili- Chairman of ICC DCFTA Commission and Corporate Affairs Director of Efes Brewery Georgia gave an overview of social and solidarity economy in Georgia. The Presentations were followed by Q/A Session and an open discussion among consultative board members. During the meeting, the 8th edition of “ICCommerce” magazine has been released; a reception followed the Board Meeting and was attended by more than one hundred fifty ICC members and guests from various businesses, political and diplomatic circles. The meeting also attended Secretary General of International Investors Association of Georgia who is also the main representative and Director of ICC Ajara. The ICC Consultative Board is the only body of its kind in Georgia, consisting of ten ambassadors, the Heads of three major international financial institutions, and the Heads of two major international organizations. The issues raised during the Board Meeting are subsequently advocated to the government through a multi-pronged approach by the ICC stakeholders to affect positive changes in the business and investment climate. ICC Georgia is the largest and most vocal global Business Association in the country; it includes over 350 corporate and youth members and 28 business associations. The International Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the world that includes over 6.5 million businesses and chambers of commerce.
