H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met with H.E. Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Parties discussed strategic partnership of the two countries and prospects for deepening the relations in various sectors of the economy. Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan congratulated the Prime Minister of Georgia with a victory of the governing team in the first round of general elections. Parties scrutinized the prospects of widening the current economic corridors and developing the new ones to facilitate the increased throughput and volume of traded commodities. Attention was paid to Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project, construction of which will be completed in the nearest future. It was mentioned at the meeting that railway link will boost the volume of transported cargo and will also attract additional volumes both from Europe and Asia. Parties agreed to establish a Work Group to identify the commodities to further develop the mutual trade relations and increase export potential from both countries. H.E. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met with Mr. Michael Kogeler, General Manager of Microsoft Corporation for Central and Eastern Europe. Parties discussed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by and between the Microsoft Corporation and Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, thereby elaborating on its significance. In line with the MOU concluded today, Microsoft Corporation will equip 32 school buildings of the country with a Wi-Fi technology for gratis in 2016. MOU also covers the MS Office 365 Cloud Service, which will assist the teachers and students in the introduction of an engaging teaching and learning practices. Meeting was focused on the opportunities of Microsoft Game and Education Resources to be offered at Georgian schools, introduction of simple teaching and learning applications, development of a single space for e-learning and exchange of information, along with the design of e-textbooks. Cooperation of Microsoft Georgia with an Agency of Innovations and Technologies of the country was noted as vital. It was also mentioned that Government of Georgia (GOG) has a License Agreement, permitting the use of copyrighted products of the Microsoft Corporation at public institutions of the country. Head of the Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the company for its consistent support and effective cooperation in the areas of education and innovations, thereby wishing to have relations developed further. The construction of the Friendship Bridge linking Georgia and Armenia will start in 2017. Today Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited the territory allocated for the construction of the new bridge. The Agreement on the Construction of the Friendship Bridge was signed on December 24, 2014 by Giorgi Kvirikashvili (the then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia) and Gagik Beglaryan(the Minister of Transport and Communications of Armenia), during the former’s visit to Yerevan. Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of Armenia visited the new Bagratasheni checkpoint on the Georgia-Armenia border and attended its opening ceremony. The parties emphasized that the new border checkpoint, along with the Rustavi-Sadakhlo highway, would provide traffic flow from and to Armenia with uninterrupted access to the East-West and North-South Transit Corridors, also promoting the sustainable and competitive development of the region’s transport network.

Japanese Foreign Trade Organization (JETRO) arrived in Georgia on the invitation of the Georgian National Investment Agency to meet the government officials and hold business meetings with private sector. According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Minister met JETRO representatives and familiarized them with Georgia’s investment environment and economic reforms carried out in the country . The meeting was also attended by Japanese Ambassador Toshio Kaitani, the deputy minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Ketevan Bochorishvili, head of the Entrepreneurship Development Agency Ana Kvaratskhelia and Georgian National Investment Agency representatives attended. As Ketevan Bochorishvili noted, Japanese businessman expressed desire to start business in Georgia. “They want to invest in trade, industry, engineering industry, food industry,”Ketevan Boshorishvili said. JETRO is Japanese Foreign Trade Organization which is actively working on deepening Japanese trade connections with different countries in the world. Georgia’s first “Agro-hub” market will be opened in the near future. “Agro-hub” Director General Giorgi Jashiashvili says that $ 15 million was invested in the project. In his words, “Agro-hub” will be officially opened in December. Jashiashvili notes that natural, fresh, healthy agricultural products will be sold in the agro-hub. The company will have a dairy processing plant to produce 100% natural dairy products, such as sour cream, yogurt, cottage cheese, different kinds of cheese (Sulguni, Imeruli, etc.). The company-made dairy products will be sold under “Agro-hub” brand. Apart from that “Agro-hub “ will offer customers different kinds of products, in particular, pastry bakery, hot and cold dishes, salads and Sea food diverse range of products. “ Sea food culture is not yet introduced in Georgia and for this purpose we want

to offer our customers fresh and live seafood, such as octopuses, lobsters as well as a large assortment of fish, “- says Jashiashvili. The company has its own poultry, beef and pork farms which will supply healthy meat to the agro-hub market. In “Agro-hub “ cellar customers will be able to buy 11 kinds of wine as well as “family” jams and pickles meeting modern standards. The company’s CEO says that the intoduction of ISO 22000 standards is cuttently underway. To test the quality of products “Agro-hub” will have three types of laboratories: physical-chemical, microbiological and veterinary, which will be fully equipped with the European installations. Jashiashvili talks about the company’s future plans noting that in 2017 it plans to add new markets in the capital and regions.
