The construction plan of the 15.5 km long GurjaaniBakurtsikhe bypass road
The cabinet of ministers scrutinized the draft contract on designing and construction of the 15.5 km long GurjaaniBakurtsikhe bypass road. Prior to the Government meeting, the Prime Minister addressed the importance of the 38 million GEL worth project. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the spatial planning of the country is aimed at designing and construction of the transportation network that will link various regions of Georgia together. According to him, GurjaaniBakurtsikhe bypass road is a part of spatial planning endevour. It will connect Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi road of international importance to the Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe highway of the national significance. “This is an indispensable part of spatial planning - one of the pillars of the Government’s four-point reform plan. Gurjaani-Bakurtsikhe highway will connect Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi road of national importance to the Akhmeta-Telavi-Bakurtsikhe inner road. Linking these two roads together will contribute to safe and speedy transportation and will reduce traffic congestion. Signing of the contract is very important. I would like to thank Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili. He and his team completed the preparation works in the shortest period of time. Visible positive dynamics in the road construction sector will improve even further in the future. I hope that the ambitious plan that we vigorously launched several months ago will continue and we will finalize construction of all previously announced highways within the next 4 years,” - the Prime Minister noted. According to the head of the Government, the Contract on Designing and Planning of GurjaaniBakurtsikhe Bypass Road is expected to be signed by the end of October 2016 and the term of construction is 30 months.
