When foreign investors look at Georgia, they see a stable normative environment, low regulation, low taxation, low red tape, and high transparency business environment, - Prime Minister of Georgia noted in his welcoming speech at the Batumi Maritime Forum. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, attractive business environment of Georgia entailed significant surge of FDIs. The head of the Government updated participants of the Forum on the political and economic environment in the country. “Today we are reinforcing our position as valued and relevant partner of the Euro-Atlantic community. Government’s four-point reform plan. Particular attention was paid to the ways of implementation of the infrastructural projects and the importance of the EIB support in this area was highlighted. According to Laszlo Baranyay, the EIB actively support the reform course of the Government and plans on expanding cooperation. “We discussed the ongoing issues with the Prime Minister. I believe that Georgian people are well aware of the active cooperation between the EIB and Georgia as well as with EIB’s partnership with its economic representatives in both public and private sectors. As of today the amount of our investments is over 700 million EU, and we plan to increase this exposure in the coming 2-3 years. Our activities cover following economic and infrastructural areas, including support of SMEs and cooperation with several Georgian banks. Of course, we intend to intensify our activities, since your country has respective potential and relevant conditions. We discussed various methods of intensification of the cooperation, including in the area of education and social infrastructure. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, it is noteworthy that the dual education model will be implemented in the high-tech center, which implies ensuring employment of the students alongside with provision of education to them. “It is a welcoming fact that model of dual professional education will be operative in this center. Respective model implies acquiring of practical experience alongside with obtaining education and it directly aims at implementation of the 4-point reform plan,” - Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted. Prime Minister also elaborated on the topic of the Kutaisi Campus University project, which, according to him, will be the largest scale project together with the scientific research center. “As you know, implementation of the project of unparalleled scale has been commenced - a few days ago construction of Tech University has launched in Kutaisi. The cost of the project is one billion EU and together with the Tbilisi Technical University, it creates a huge and important complex that will be transferred to the state. The project will bring major changes to the development process of the high technologies in Georgia and generally; it will also ameliorate the quality of technical education and qualitatively change the country’s development,” - Prime Minister noted. The Businessman hosted by the Director of Association member company - BTM Textile Mr, Kenan Agirbash. The introductory meeting was focused on economic and investment environment of the region, particularly business sphere in Georgia, they also spoke about further partnership.
