This has been a rough year for many with disasters ranging from fires to flood and there has been little time for even the few minutes to takes to recognize our co-workers. Please send your nominations to Jim Krugman the CEMA Awards committee chair at [email protected]. Nominations must include a description of why the nominee deserves recognition for outstanding service to their community and a letter of support for the nomination (either the nomination or the letter of support must be submitted by a CEMA member). The nominee does not have to be a CEMA member. Registration is now open for the 2014 Colorado Integrated Emergency Management Conference. National Infrastructure Protection Plan Updated The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Infrastructure Protection announced the updated National Infrastructure Protection Plan --NIPP 2013: Partnering for Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience is now available at www.dhs.gov/nipp. The Sector Specific Agencies have been requested to share this notification with their respective Sector and Government Coordinating Councils along with the attached Factsheet and Frequently Asked Questions document. NIPP 2013 builds on the effective practices used by the sectors over the past several years. It reflects input provided by our partners as part of the development process that took place over the past year. NIPP 2013 provides the foundation to strengthen our partnership structures, enhance our risk management efforts, and motivate participation through a call to action that will help implement and achieve the National objectives described in Presidential Policy Directive-21 Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience. The focus of NIPP 2013 is on guiding national efforts to manage risk to the Nation’s critical infrastructure. Critical infrastructure provides the foundation for the full range of essential services that underpin American society. Securing this infrastructure and making it resilient is a priority for this Department. You are invited to join Suzanne Spaulding, Acting Under Secretary, National Protection and Programs Directorate, and Caitlin Durkovich, Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection for a conference call on January 13, 2014 to discuss the implementation of NIPP 2013. With the release of NIPP 2013, the Department of Homeland Security reaffirms its commitment to work collaboratively with our Federal interagency, private sector, and State, local, tribal, and territorial partners to implement this Plan. We look forward to the continued coordination and collaboration across the critical infrastructure community to advance security and resilience and enhance overall national preparedness.

Educational Resources Identification Theft Resources from Colorado Bureau of Investigations The Colorado Bureau of Investigations has provided three identification theft resources in response to the recent data breach with Target, holiday shopping and the concerns of state employees after employee information was compromised. The most important things to remember are: 1. Monitor your accounts closely and immediately notify your bank or credit union if you notice any suspicious activity. 2. Contact your bank or credit union and let them know if you have been a victim of a data breach. Your bank will have a range of options to protect your accounts. 3. Place a fraud alert on your credit with the credit reporting agencies. Please see today’s blog posting on READYColorado.com that contains three resources to download and share in your community or online.
