LHS Harmon At-A-Glance 9th & 10th grade campus Over 50% economically disadvantaged 2013-2014 Enrollment: 1157 2014-2015 Enrollment: 1220 iPads deployed to all students in 2013-2014, 9th graders only 2014-2015. Approximately 50 students per school year opted to not take an iPad. Students are allowed to keep iPads over the summer. Students must pay $40 insurance fee to receive an iPad, but scholarships are available on an as-needed basis. iPads must remain in school-issued case which is an Otterbox or similar. Insurance covers damages including cracked screens. Major damages in 2013-2014 school year: 56 cracked screens, 3 stolen iPads (must get a police report), 18 lost iPads
Successful Deployment Our #1 belief is that iPads must be in working order when students walk out of the deployment stations. If the iPad isn't working for whatever reason: Apple ID issues, wifi issues, etc, then it will only serve to frustrate the student, his/her parents, and his/her teachers.
Deployment Stations iPad Deployment Stations were manned by teachers, counselors, administrators, and office staff during 2nd period. Classes arrived to receive iPads at an appointed time after all students in the class have paid for insurance and had an Apple ID.
Deployment Stations Stations: 1. Verification of insurance payment and parent signatures on forms. 2.iPad scanned for check-out. 3.Cases put on iPads. 4.One-on-three assistance with startup & entering Apple ID. If ID did not work, student was allowed to use computer lab to fix issue. If issue needed parent assistance, iPad was scanned back in until student returned with working Apple ID. 5. 2nd year iPad students only: insurance payment & iPad check to remove iPad if iPad was damaged or payment not received.
