RULES AND REGULAnONS IMPLEMBNTlNG R.A. NO. 7882 ENTITLED·AN ACT PROVIDING ASSISTANCE TO WOMEN ENGAGING IN MICRO AND COTfAGE , BUSINESSENTERPRISES, ANDFOROTHBR PURPOSES. •

Pursuant to Section 8 of R.A. 7882, the following rules and regulations are hereby prescribed and promulgated for the compliance, guidance aitd information of all concerned: I.

Purpose R. At 7882 seeks to provide all possible assistance to Filipino women in their p11rsuit of owning, operating and managing small busiriess enterprises.. ,

Declared State Policy The State recognizes the role of women in nation building, and shall ensure the fundamental equality before the law of men and women. '(per Philippine Constitution Article II, Section 14)

DefinitionofTerms I

Micro and Cottage Enterprise (shall follow tae definition approved by the SMED Council. Atpresent, they are defined as follows:) - anybusiness activity or enterprise engaged in industry, agri-business and/or services, whether single proprietorship, cooperative, partnership or corporation whose total assets, inclusive of those arising from loans but exclusive of the land on whicJ; the particular business entity's office, plant and equipment are situated, must nave value falling under the following categories: Micro Cottage

P150,OOO.00 and below above PI50,000.00 - Pl,500,000.00

Prime Rate - is the interest rate' to be imposed by government financial institutions on their preferred clients and is decided upon among themselves on a weekly basis.

Primary OrganizatiOlls these are groups composed ofat leastfour (4) individuals who would be or already operating a microenterprise. The purpose of grouping may vary as follows: to own/operate a common business to tapls,upply a common market to operate a common service facility to tap common raw materials source other activities beneficial to the group
