Santa Store at Kitchener
The staff of Kitchener School will be running their Santa Store again. They count on donations from other schools to help them stock their store. We are accepting donations of gently used toys, books, clothing and gift bags. We would, also, appreciate any new gifts such as toiletries. There is always a need for gifts for teenagers and men. We have so much. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk to your children about being thankful for what they have, generous with others and self-sacrificing. Please consider how you can help us make this Christmas very special for those in need. The donated gifts will be accepted from now until December 10. .

Deck the Shelves Dec. 22 is the Last Day for Sending Money. Staff members at Grant Road would like to continue a Christmas program that has been a tradition at the school for many years. It is called “Deck the Shelves”. If you’d like to give your child’s/children’s teacher(s) a gift at Christmas, consider instead making a donation to purchase new books for the school library. Mr. Phillips will choose books from the “library wish list”. A label will be placed inside each “Deck the Shelves” book saying “This book was donated to Grant Road School by _____________ and family, as part of the 2017 Deck the Shelves”. If you want to participate in this program and give a gift that will last for years and benefit many, simply enclose your donation in an envelope marked “Deck the Shelves” and have your child give it to his/her teacher. Be sure to include your family name along with your donation.
Hungry Children and Sobeys Thank you to Sobeys South for donating bread and fruit to our school. They donate every Monday and Wednesday. Many students in the school enjoy a snack at recess and some hungry families receive food donations. The School Community Council is organizing parents/guardians to pick up the food.
First Annual Grant Road School Craft Fair and Trade Show November 25 There were about 20 tables of glassware, moss terrariums, baking, ethnic food, face painting, woodworking, hairstyling and more at this community event. The Health Region, Whitmore Park Community Association and Fire Department participated in this opportunity for neighbors to sell goods, to meet each other and to visit at Grant Road School. We are interested in holding another craft fair and trade show. If you have ideas about how to make this event even more successful, send them to
[email protected] or call 306 539 5971.
Book Fair & the United Way Stay tuned to learn in the January Newsletter the amounts raised for our school library and for the Regina United Way.
