Principal’s Message

A Visit from the Director

December, here we are! As always, I would like to start with some “Thank Yous.” I would like to thank all of the staff and students who made our Remembrance Day Assemblies so special. I would like to thank the teachers who organized the Integration Days. These days allow classroom teachers time in small groups to work on goal setting and conference preparation with their students. Thank you to all of the grades 4-8 teachers and students for their work on completing the “Our School Surveys.” The responses from these surveys are shared at the school, division and provincial levels. Thank you and congratulations to the students who had their art on display at the Team Lerminiaux Art Show at Division Office. The art will remain there for a few more weeks for staff and visitors to enjoy. And finally, I would like to thank all of the families who attended 3-Way Conferences. These meetings are essential for communication and for building relationships that help to support students. Thank you to staff for the time and effort that you put into preparing for and hosting these conferences.

Greg Enion, Director of Regina Public Schools, visited Massey on November 7th. He did a tour of the school and he visited some of the classrooms. Mr. Enion welcomed our new teachers, M Peters and M Shamel. Also, he presented years of service (with Regina Public Schools) pins.

This month we look forward to having Mme Fournier join our staff. She will be replacing Mme McCashin when she goes on maternity leave. We wish Mme McCashin and her family all of the best and we thank her for a wonderful start to the school year. The month of December is full of excitement including: band concerts, the Winter Carnival and winter holidays! The last day of classes is on December 22. We have a 2:30 dismissal that day. I wish you all the best over the holidays and into the New Year. May you find time to relax and have fun with friends and family. Take care and be safe. Mme Potter de Garcia, M Clifford, Mme Lubenko and Mme Boire all received 10 year pins. Mme McKenzieCox was presented with a 30 year pin! We thank all of these amazing recipients for their continued dedication and service to the students of Massey. We look forward to more visits from Mr. Enion in the future.

Parent Work Days

Growing Smiles Fundraiser

In order to help our teachers maximize their time and efforts in teaching our children, Parent Work Days are coordinated each month. There are a variety of tasks involved in these days including laminating, photocopying, preparing booklets, filing library books, etc. If you are available to volunteer some time on these days, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Growing Smiles Fundraiser Winter Fundraiser. Thanks to your support, this fundraiser has raised $736.59! We had 40 orders in the amount of $2654. Great work everyone!

The next Parent Work Day is going to take place on Friday December 8th, 2017. Muffin Program The Massey muffin program helps provide a nutritious, nut-free midmorning snack for students at another school in Regina where snacks are not so readily available. We coordinate volunteers who are willing to bake muffins and others that are willing to deliver. We will deliver muffins on December 4, 11 and 18. Happy Holidays! From Massey SCC, we extend warm wishes to each and every family for a lovely holiday season. We wish you joy, happiness, and of course restfulness. We are excited to continue our efforts of supporting Ecole Massey School in the new year, and look forward to the many fun events we have planned in the new year.

Orders will be delivered to the school and ready for pick-up on Wed December 6th between 3pm and 6pm. Please come to the school to pick up your orders!

Candy Cane Sales by MAC Candy cane sales will be a bit different this year. During the morning recess, students are invited to purchase a candy cane for someone else and they will be delivered by MAC members each day around 3:15. During the afternoon recess, students can buy candy canes for themselves. Each candy cane will cost $1 and there is a maximum of 2 candy canes per student per recess. There will be 2 separate sale tables; one closer to the primary wing (between the staffroom doors) and one closer to the senior wing.

Donation Fundraiser A huge thank you to everyone who has participated in our annual Donation Fundraiser at Massey. So far we have raised $4320.00!! Everyone’s generosity is remarkable and we are so grateful for all of your support. Funds raised in this fundraiser go towards supporting our classrooms and making Massey an awesome school for our students to attend. Thank you!

Healthy Hunger December’s Special Lunch will take place on Wednesday December 20th and we will be ordering Pizza Hut. This is a Purple Day for Kindergartens. To order, go to www.heathlyhunger.ca. Order deadline is December 13th.
