Prep for the Future--Select Classes Carefully As students begin the registration process for their 2018-19 classes, many factors influence their choices. Factors considered should include preparation for future goals, improving academic weaknesses, college readiness, and career exploration. Because it is easy for students to be swayed by what their friends are taking, finding an “easy A,” or just taking a class for the fun of it, parents are encouraged to discuss long-term goals with their students. While students should be afforded the option of taking a class just because they want to, the primary focus for most of their schedule should include which classes will best prepare them for their future. To assist students, the counselors will be presenting information to sophomores and juniors. At that time, the registration guides will be reviewed, graduation and college admission requirements will be discussed, and questions will be answered.
