If CMEs can take between 42 and 208 hours to reach the Earth, as NASA says, this particular CME could have passed near Earth on the morning of April 21, at the very time power went out in San Francisco. San Francisco was not the only American city to experience a power outage that morning. In New York City, power went down at one subway station at 7:20 a.m., and later that morning, across the country, power went out at Los Angeles International Airport and many other locations around the city. Maloof acknowledged the possibility extreme space weather may have been behind the widespread outages. He said power failures have a way of spreading throughout the electrical grid. "Once something goes down in one area, there is a cascading effect to other areas within the surrounding area. So you shut down power in one area, it could affect power outage in contiguous areas," he said. "So it's conceivable that you had a cascading effect within the cities as a result of the solar flare, and they're in the right latitude for where that flare could have hit approximately. And they're all on approximately the same latitude, which makes it so very interesting." The ever-present threat of solar flares and other extreme space weather, combined with the threat of a weaponized EMP from a hostile nation such as North Korea, leads Maloof to believe EMP defense should be one of the U.S.'s top national security priorities. However, the Trump administration has not yet taken steps to harden the U.S. power grid against a possible EMP. It has not even declared it one of its top priorities. "So you want something tangible done?" Maloof asked. "Let's get something tangible done today, now. The Trump administration needs to declare EMP a very high national security priority. Just forget about Syria, forget about Yemen, even North Korea; just forget about them. Let's tighten up here first; then we can go play outside." Maloof said some of Trump's advisers are taking his attention away from the domestic priorities on which he was elected – jobs, infrastructure and immigration – and instead focusing on regime change in Syria and other places. "We‘re in a conundrum right now internationally," he said. "What are we going to do in Yemen? What are we going to do in Syria? What are we going to do in North Korea? And that's where all the attention is focused. It‘s not on infrastructure development or working on hardening our industries from EMP. We should be doing that. We're not. "We should be working on things that are tangible for the United States. EMP hardening is a tangible consideration, and it isn't happening." San Francisco grid failure offers preview of EMP threat Chaotic situation lasted 7 hours, likely triggered by solar flare

For seven hours on Friday April 21st, San Francisco was in chaos. A fire in a utility company substation caused a power outage that knocked out traffic lights, cable cars, elevators and computer systems. At least 88,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers were left without power for most of the workday. Employees in the city's financial district had to go home for the day as they found themselves unable to do business. Many retailers shut their doors as well, unable to accept credit card payments using their electronic card readers. Major traffic jams plagued the city as motorists were forced to treat every intersection as a four-way stop. However, there were no reported deaths or major injuries associated with the outage, and all power was restored to customers within eight hours. But what if next time is different? What if next time, the power goes out not for seven hours, but seven days? What if it goes out not merely in part of San Francisco, but the entire Western half of the United States? That scenario is very plausible in the increasingly dangerous world in which we live, according to energy expert Jeffrey Yago. "Hopefully you realize that this government just does not have the resources, expertise or leadership to feed and shelter millions of people if a real disaster strikes, and there have been multiple examples to drive this point home," Yago warns. "Aging power systems, malicious computer hacking, decommissioned power plants that could not meet new EPA regulations, grid terrorist attacks, and the increased risk of an EMP all but guarantee future power outages will last much longer and occur more frequently." If Americans can't rely on the government during an extended power outage, what are they to do? Yago recommends replacing gridpowered devices with battery-powered appliances. Michael Maloof, a former senior security policy analyst in the office of the secretary of defense, estimates a large city like San Francisco could only survive two or three days at most without electricity before devolving into chaos. All public transportation would be gone, as would the ability to refuel cars. The grocery stores would likely run out of food after three days. "It can be rather devastating in very short order, just in a matter of days, not weeks and months," Maloof told WND. While EMPs can be man-made, they can also arise from natural causes, such as solar flares and accompanying coronal mass ejections (CMEs). NASA observed a large coronal mass ejection

WannaCry Ransomware cyber-attack 'may have N Korea link' who was behind the huge global cyber-attack? One prominent theory right now is North Korea - but what we know is far from conclusive. You may not have heard of the Lazarus Group, but you may be aware of its work. The devastating hack on Sony Pictures in 2014, and another on a Bangladeshi bank in 2016, have both been attributed to the highly sophisticated group. It is widely believed that the Lazarus Group worked out of China, but on behalf of the North Koreans. Security experts are now cautiously linking the Lazarus Group to this latest attack after a discovery by Google security researcher Neel Mehta. He found similarities between code found within WannaCry - the software used in the hack - and other tools believed to have been created by the Lazarus Group in the past. Picking apart the code: Prof Alan Woodward, a security expert, pointed out to me that the text demanding the ransom uses what reads like machine-translated English, with a Chinese segment apparently written by a native speaker."As you can see it's pretty

thin and all circumstantial," Prof Woodward said. "However, it's worth further investigation.""Neel Mehta‘s discovery is the most significant clue to date regarding the origins of WannaCry,‖ said Russian security firm Kaspersky, but noted a lot more information is needed about earlier versions of WannaCry before any firm conclusion can be reached. "We believe it‘s important that other researchers around the world investigate these similarities and attempt to discover more facts about the origin of WannaCry,‖ the company added. "Looking back to the Bangladesh attack, in the early days, there were very few facts linking them to the Lazarus Group.‖In time, more evidence appeared and allowed us, and others, to link them together with high confidence. Further research can be crucial to connecting the dots." Attributing cyber-attacks can be notoriously difficult - often relying on consensus rather than confirmation. For example, North Korea has never admitted any involvement in the Sony Pictures hack - and while security researchers, and the US government, have confidence in the theory, neither can rule out the possibility of a false flag. Skilled hackers may have simply made it look like it had origins in North Korea by using similar techniques. 'Wouldn‟t stand up in court' In the case of WannaCry, it is possible that hackers simply copied code from earlier attacks by the Lazarus Group.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin formally opened events Sunday May 21 to mark the half-century anniversary of the reunification of the holy city of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish People. America‘s new Ambassador to Israel, David M. Friedman, was also present for the opening ceremonies. ―We have not occupied,‖ Netanyahu told those gathered at the foot of the Tower of David in the Old City, ―We have liberated. ―I say to the world in a calm, clear voice: Jerusalem was and always will be the capital of Israel.‖ The prime minister underlined in his remarks that the Western Wall and the Temple Mount – the holiest sites in the Jewish faith – ―will always remain under Israeli sovereignty.‖ President Reuven Rivlin also spoke at the ceremony. ―Sometimes I hear them talking about ‗the Jerusalem problem,‘‖ he said. ―Jerusalem is not a problem. Jerusalem is the solution. ―There are dreamers of political solutions who are trying to make a complete trial, to cut the city organ by organ, but anyone who talks about Jerusalem as a surgeon speaks about the dissection of the city, is bringing a tragedy upon it and its people, and is returning it to baseness and misery. ―For many years now, they have been trying to undermine the foundations of Jerusalem. They have never stopped. Even now at the UNESCO conference they are trying to rewrite history, to say that ‗we have no connection to the city.‘―To all those who defy Jerusalem we have one answer: Jerusalem has been burned and broken and smashed and eulogized, but it rose and returned to its sons, opening its gates to thousands of believers of different faiths.‖

But Kaspersky said false flags within WannaCry were "possible" but "improbable", as the shared code was removed from later versions. "There are a lot of ifs in there," added Prof Woodward. "It wouldn't stand up in court as it is. But its worth looking deeper, being conscious of confirmation bias now that North Korea has been identified as a possibility." It‘s the strongest theory yet as to the origin of WannaCry, but there are also details that arguably point away from it being the work of North Korea. First, China was among the countries worst hit, and not accidentally - the hackers made sure there was a version of the ransom note written in Chinese. It seems unlikely North Korea would want to antagonize its strongest ally. Russia too was badly affected. Second, North Korean cyber-attacks have typically been far more targeted, often with a political goal in mind. In the case of Sony Pictures, hackers sought to prevent the release of The Interview, a film that mocked North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. WannaCry, in contrast, was wildly indiscriminate - it would infect anything and everything it could. Finally, if the plan was simply to make money, it‘s been pretty unsuccessful on that front too - only around $60,000 (£46,500) has been paid in ransoms, according to analysis of Bitcoin accounts being used by the criminals. With more than 200,000 machines infected, it's a terrible return. But then of course, maybe the ransom was a distraction for some other political goal not yet clear. Another possibility is that the Lazarus Group worked alone, without instruction from North Korea. Indeed, it could be that the Lazarus Group isn‘t even linked to North Korea. More questions than answers - and in cyber-war, facts are extremely hard to come by.

Growing Concerns over West Coast Seismic Activity: And there shall be Earthquakes in diverse places. Michael Snyder Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier and Mount Hood are all major volcanoes that lie along the infamous "Ring of Fire" that runs down the west coast of the United States, and all of the seismic activity that has been taking place in the region has many concerned about what may happen next. Earlier this month, I wrote about how 45 earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater hit Alaska in just one 24 hour period. This week, it is volcanic activity that is raising concerns. The earthquake swarms at Mount St. Helens are making headlines all over the globe, and on Tuesday two major volcanoes in Alaska suddenly erupted on the exact same day...An eruption at Bogoslof volcano - one of two to erupt in the Aleutian Islands Tuesday - is its first after more than two months of inactivity, causing ash to fall in a nearby community before drifting south over the Pacific Ocean. The Alaska Volcano Observatory said Tuesday night's eruption at the volcano about 60 miles west of Unalaska, which began just after 10:30 p.m. and lasted for 73 minutes, sent a plume to an altitude of 34,000 feet. Overall, 39 volcanoes around

though it lasted over a week, this was a comparably small one-40,000 years ago, it produced a "super-colossal" eruption. This is the second highest measure on the volcanic explosively index, the first being "mega-colossal," like those seen at the Yellowstone super volcano in the U.S. thousands of years ago. For years I have been documenting how the crust of our planet is becoming increasingly unstable, and at some point a major seismic event is going to dramatically change life in America overnight. Let us hope that day is delayed for as long as possible, but as certainly as you are reading this article it is coming. Jesus warns us in the last days there would be an increase in earthquakes similar to a woman in labor. They would increase in frequency and size as we get closer to the end. Has there really been an increase in earthquake activity over the past few decades?

the world are either erupting right now or have recently erupted according to Volcano Discovery. Most of those active volcanoes are along the Ring of Fire. Fortunately, the U.S. portion of the Ring of Fire has been less active than other areas in recent years. But experts assure us that will eventually change because seismic tension continues to build. One example of this is what is happening at Mount St. Helens right now. According to scientists, the famous volcano is currently going through what is known as a "magma recharge"...Since mid-April, small earthquakes have been cropping up deep beneath Mount St Helens at 'relatively high rates,' bringing roughly one tremor every few hours. In the last 30 days, scientists have located 55 seismic events in the vicinity, and say there may be well over 100 earthquakes linked to the swarm so far. The activity falls in line with magma recharge thought to be underway since 2008. Someday it will erupt again, and the geologists that monitor these things are watching the latest developments very carefully... "Mount St. Helens is at normal background levels of activity," Liz Westby, a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey-Cascades Volcano Observatory, told ABC News. "But a bit out of the ordinary are several small magnitude earthquake swarms in March to May 2016, November 2016 and April 16 to May 5, 2017. During the April 16 to May 5, 2017, swarm, we detected well over 100 earthquakes, all below a magnitude 1.3."Personally, I am much more concerned about Mount Rainier than I am about Mount St. Helens. Since the last time it erupted in the late 19th century, hundreds of thousands of people have moved into the danger zone around the volcano, and a full-blown eruption now would eclipse any other natural disaster in recorded U.S. history. Over the last 30 days, there has also been a good bit of seismic activity at Mount Rainier, and much of it has been centered right along the core of the volcano...Mount Rainier is capable of unleashing a flow of super-heated mud that could literally cover much of the Seattle/Tacoma area. If you think that I am exaggerating, please see the following excerpt from Wikipedia... Mount Rainier is currently listed as a Decade Volcano, or one of the 16 volcanoes with the greatest likelihood of causing great loss of life and property if eruptive activity resumes, if Mt. Rainier were to erupt as powerfully as Mount St. Helens did in its May 18, 1980 eruption, the effect would be cumulatively greater, because of the far more massive amounts of glacial ice locked on the volcano compared to Mount St. Helens, the vastly more heavily populated areas surrounding Rainier, and the simple fact that Mt Rainier is a much bigger volcano, almost twice the size of St. Helens. Lahars from Rainier pose the most risk to life and property, as many communities lie atop older lahar deposits. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), about 150,000 people live on top of old lahar deposits of Rainier. Not only is there much ice atop the volcano, the volcano is also slowly being weakened by hydrothermal activity. According to Geoff Clayton, a geologist with a Washington State Geology firm, RH2 Engineering, a repeat of the Osceola mudflow would destroy Enumclaw, Orting, Kent, Auburn, Puyallup, Sumner and all of Renton. Such a mudflow might also reach down the Duwamish estuary and destroy parts of downtown Seattle, and cause tsunamis in Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Rainier is also capable of producing pyroclastic flows and expelling lava. I keep warning about the dangers of a future eruption of Mount Rainier, and this is something that is so heavy on my heart that I even included an eruption of the volcano in my novel entitled The Beginning of the End. If you live in the Seattle/Tacoma area, you need to have a plan for a very rapid evacuation in the event a major eruption suddenly takes place. On the other side of the world, scientists are warning that a super volcano near Naples, Italy is reaching a critical stage. The following comes from Newsweek... One of the world's most dangerous super volcanoes appears to be closer to erupting than we once thought, scientists have warned. Campi Flegrei in southern Italy has been showing signs of reawakening over the past 67 years, and new research indicates the volcano has been building energy throughout this period, increasing the risk that it will erupt. Campi Flegrei is a huge volcanic field that sits about 9 miles to the west of Naples, a city home to over a million people. It is made up of 24 craters and edifices, and appears as a large depression on the surface of the land. The volcano last erupted in 1538 after almost a century of pressure building up. But

Islamist compounds all over US stockpiling weapons in preps for “Jihad against Trump” As first reported in December, 2016 by Stuart Varney of Fox Business Network, multiple confidential sources inside of a powerful jihadist group within the United States have informed the Christian Action Network and the Clarion Project that members have been told to arm themselves in anticipation of raids by the Trump Administration. The Pakistan-based spiritual leader of Muslims of America (MOA), Sheikh Gilani, told top MOA officials (known as ―khalifas‖) to order all unarmed members to obtain firearms, licenses and hunting permits in order to resist raids on the group‘s approximately 22 compounds that they expect to happen under the Trump Administration. Additional ―security‖ was also called up and assault rifles have been mentioned as desirable. The group now expects the FBI ―to reopen its cases against them as a homegrown terrorist organization,‖ one of the confidential sources told Martin Mawyer of the Christian Action Network and Ryan Mauro of the Clarion Project. MANCHESTER, England (AP) — British police and intelligence agencies arrested three more suspects Wednesday May 24 in connection with the Manchester suicide bombing and moved quickly to secure key sites across the country, including Buckingham Palace and the British Parliament at Westminster. Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the bomber, identified as British-born Libyan Salman Abedi, ―likely‖ did not act alone when he killed 22 people and wounded dozens at an Ariana Grande concert Monday night May 22 in Manchester. She said he had been known to security forces ―up to a point.‖ Officials are examining Abedi‘s trips to Libya as they worked to piece together his allegiances and foil any new potential threats. Police said three men were arrested Wednesday in south Manchester, where a day earlier a 23-year-old man was also arrested and a number of homes were searched. Britain raised its threat level from terrorism to ―critical‖ after an emergency

British soldiers have been deployed in place of police officers to guard high-profile sites such as Buckingham Palace and Parliament. The changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace was canceled Wednesday May 24 so police officers can be re-deployed, Britain‘s defense ministry said. The traditional ceremony at the palace is a major tourist attraction in London. The Palace of Westminster, which houses the British Parliament in London, was also closed Wednesday May 24 to all those without passes, and tours and events there were cancelled until further notice. Armed police were seen on patrol outside St. Paul‘s Cathedral in London, another popular tourist spot.

The Mercaz HaRav Kook yeshiva held its traditional Jerusalem Day celebrations as well. Throughout the day, some 80 "Alternative Jerusalem Day" events promoting tolerate were held in response to the politicization of Jerusalem Day. Among them was an event in which participants did build Jerusalem from Lego, another in which a mural was painted at the Mekor Baruch neighborhood, and a Jewish-Arab concert.

Jerusalem celebrates 50 years to its unification Jerusalem Day celebrations began on Tuesday May 23 in the capital with various events and concerts well into the night and continue in full force on Wednesday May 24 as the city marks 50 years to its unification. The President's Residence hosted a musical event on Tuesday evening titled "Singing for you Jerusalem," which featured a variety of artists and songs about the city. At Safra Square, the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra performed with Israeli singers Miri Mesika, David D‘Or and Kobi Aflalo. Wednesday's events include several memorial ceremonies. A state memorial service to some 4,000 Ethiopian immigrants who died on their way to Israel was held at the Mount Herzl cemetery.

The Knesset held a special session attended by President Reuven Rivlin.
