Dear Scorpion Family, Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy quality time with family and friends. It is also an opportune time to read together and learn new information from books. When parents and guardians read with their children, they build language and new knowledge with their students. K-‐5 students will be expected to read a minimum of five books. Students in grades K-‐5 will complete a reading log for four of the books from the list, and the students will also complete a book report for their required reading book from their summer reading selections. Requires Reading (K-‐5)
The required reading book should be brought to school with them on the first day of school. A
homework grade will be issued for bringing the book to class. The scholar will be quizzed on the basic knowledge of the book and will receive a QUIZ grade on the first day of school. The test will be open book. After completing some classwork assignments, by the end of the first ten days of school the scholar will receive a more comprehensive TEST. Sincerely, Kevin E. Forehand Principal
