Councillor’s Message The week started off with a breakfast meeting with community associations and businesses along Merivale Road on Monday morning. The meeting held at Nate’s Deli was to discuss the Merivale Road Density Index Study that I have referred to in previous newsletters. I want to thank the businesses, community representatives and Councillor Chiarelli, who is working on this project as well, for helping to improve Merivale Road. In the evening, Councillor Chiarelli and I co-hosted a Fraud Awareness Workshop in partnership with the Ottawa Police Service. The event, which was very well attended, was held at the Nepean Sportsplex and allowed some great information to be shared and discussed. On Tuesday night, I attended the 19th Annual Awesome Authors Youth Writing Contest Award Ceremony and handed out awards. Amongst the many winners were some students from Ward 9 schools who received honourable mentions, including Noah Zeibdawi and Julia DolanskyOverland. Wednesday was Council day. Of importance was a proposal to extend voting times for the upcoming City elections. The full report that was passed can be found at the following link: https:// drive.google.com/file/d/0B8NzhZgTqxtS01OakgtODlGZUk/edit?usp=sharing.
Councillor Egli joins Alex Lewis, Mayor Watson and Councillor Chiarelli at the Greater Nepean Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards Ceremony, which was held on Thursday, March 20th at the Centurion Conference and Events Centre. Bike Workshop in Ottawa. For more information, please visit: www.ontariobybike.ca. I also attended a meeting of the Parkwood Hills Stakeholder’s group to discuss the upcoming Ward 9 Fun Day which will be held at Inverness Park on Saturday, June 7th, 2014. I am pleased to announce that after much community consultation I was able to convince staff to make changes to the proposed road work on Sherry Lane and Brent Avenue. The proposed sidewalks have now been replaced with a much preferred MUP (Multi-Use Pathway). Thank you to all of the members of the community who provided feedback on this matter.
