Austin Community College Core Curriculum Requirements (Effective Fall 2014)

Your first two years of study at a four-year college or university are spent completing the core curriculum and pre-major classes that prepare you for an intended major field of study. 

Core curriculum requirements

To complete core curriculum you must earn a certain amount of credits per subject area, listed in the table below. These are the requirements for transfer degrees.

If completed in its entirety, the 42-credit core curriculum ACC can replace the core curriculum in your bachelor’s degree when Applied science majors: Follow general education requirements for you transfer. You can even earn a degree along the way. Students the Associate of Applied Science or credit certificates. are strongly encouraged to complete the associate degree at ACC Subject Area Required Credits before transfer. Communication 6 Choosing the right classes Mathematics 3 Depending on your major, you may have to take specific core Life & Physical Sciences 6 curriculum classes. Check your degree plan to make sure the Language, Philosophy, and Culture 3 classes you pick match your major’s requirements. If you plan Creative Arts 3 to transfer, contact your future institution to ask if your core American History 6 curriculum classes fulfill your transfer plan.
