Welcome to the Computer Science and Engineering Careers Fair and Employer Presentation Workshop for the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). This event is hosted by the FST Placement Team, together with the Career Development Centre.

EMPLOYER PRESENTATION WORKSHOP 1 – 2pm, Small Lecture Theatre (SLT)

This guide has been created to provide you with an overview of the exhibitors attending, as well as the details of the organisations speaking at the ‘Employer Presentation Workshop’.

We have organised a range of employers and industry specialists to come and share their knowledge with you; this is a great opportunity for you to learn more about their organisation and to gain valuable insight, hints and tips into their application process. Alternatively some organisations presenting will be aiming to increase your awareness of different industries and careers, so please come with an open mind. The presentation will last for a duration of one hour, with the following organisations* scheduled to speak: • Digital Assess Ltd • FDM Group • General Electric • The Net-A-Porter Group • Ticketmaster • Young Rail Professionals If you would like to network with any of these organisations or ask further questions, you can do so at the Computer Science and Engineering Careers Fair, which will take place directly afterwards. *Please note, the presenting organisations are subject to change.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CAREERS FAIR 2 – 5pm, C1.15 The Careers Fair provides an excellent opportunity for Computer Science and Engineering students, at various stages of their studies, to meet with a range of potential employers, offering placement, internship and graduate opportunities. There are over 20 organisations exhibiting at the fair; to ensure that you make a positive first impression, please ensure that you prepare effectively and read our helpful do’s and don’ts. In addition to the exhibitors, the Career Development Centre will also be present to answer your questions and to offer advice about the different services and support available to you whilst you are studying and after you graduate. They are also running a series of other careers and employability focused events throughout the year; these will be advertised via engage.westminster.ac.uk The faculty’s dedicated Placements Team will also be on hand to talk to you about the different placement, internship and work experience opportunities on offer to you; for further information visit our placements webpage.

Fair Preparation Quick Tips To make the most out of the fair, be savvy and prepare effectively by reading our top tips listed below. DO: • Research the organisations exhibiting via their company website and Engage. Prepare prepare some questions to ask their representatives at the careers fair • Consider which of these organisations match your career interests and values and make it a priority to visit their stand • Bring copies of your CV with you in a professional folder • Dress professionally – first impressions count • Bring along a notebook and pen - ask the exhibitors for their business cards or contact details • Remember to follow up with any of the exhibitors that you have connected with via email or LinkedIn. Try to do this within 24 hours of the fair taking place

DON’T: • Follow your friends around or listen to other students asking the exhibitors questions • Walk up to an exhibitor’s stand and take their free sweets or merchandise. Try to engage in a conservation with the exhibitor and then they may offer you some free goodies to take away
