CROPS-Mid-Late summer-Important period for establishing crops for winter harvest. PEST WATCH-Pear and Cherry Slug, Codling Moth COMPOST- Check all composting and vermiculture systems for moisture and aeration. Alter as required. Turn hot compost piles. WEEDING-Concentrate on flowering weeds (TARGET WEEDING) and Fence lines. Harvest hay/weeds from western hill side, use as mulch or for compost.

Thin Fruit Mowing of grassed paths will be needed 2-3 times during this period Mulch annual and perennial gardens if needed Build netting frames for fruits and nuts that may be eaten by birds. Any other Tasks identified?

etc. PRUNNING-Stone fruits in early Autumn -Pome fruits as/when required.

- Raspberry & Bramble canes if no longer fruiting. CROPS-Final harvest of Summer crops -Ensure all pumpkins are harvested before first frost. -Early Autumn, establish crops for winter/spring harvest. PEST WATCH- Slug and snail numbers will increase with cool wet weather-Remove mulch around seed beds and seedlings. If mulch is needed use very fine mulch; compost. WEEDING-Less of a priority with cooler weather. -Check spaded edges for creeping weeds like couch grass.

-Use weeds as mulch or composting COMPOST-Hot Compost the bulk of summer growth in crops, weeds and spoiled fruit. -Heat generated from hot compost can be used to raise seedlings. Construct frost protection structures for sensitive crops. Apply fresh compost and rock fertiliser to deciduous fruit trees. Mow Paths-If needed.
