Parents, Teachers and community stakeholders of Micheltorena Street Elementary School, please join us for an important community meeting hosted by LAUSD. We invite and encourage ALL concerned community members to attend this meeting and to show support for an undivided Micheltorena campus. As many of you know, the Micheltorena staff and parent leadership are strongly opposed to sharing our campus with a charter school. To be clear, this is not an opposition to Citizens of the World Charter, or to charter schools in general. We are opposed to sharing our campus because we feel that splitting the campus will fracture our school community and inhibit further growth and improvement efforts at the school. On a more urgent note, it would halt our ability to start a dual-language program at our school, which is planned to begin for the 2012-2013 school year.
