Strategic Goal I: Outreach, Community Engagement and Education CODA-International will have greater recognition across the Deaf, disability, and educational communities as a credible representative entity for hearing children of Deaf parents (Codas) and an essential resource for information concerning Codas and their families. Proposed Objectives & Strategies for Consideration I.1. Develop and implement a marketing and communications plan to promote the mission, goals and contributions of CODA. a. Create a common branding & communication infrastructure that provides a sense of uniformity among CODA affiliates, partner I.2. I.3.
organizations, etc. b. Enhance CODA’s presence in popular social media venues (e.g., Facebook, You Tube, etc.). c.
Continue to enhance CODA website, ensuring there is active monitoring and updating of content and more effective use of CODA-related search strings. d. Employ data/metrics to inform I.T. and social media strategies.
Establish official partnerships with key national and international Deaf and KODA organizations. a. Establish an official CODA Ambassadors Program to provide a wide pool of qualified individuals to represent the organization. b. Develop a plan to send Ambassadors to key Deaf/KODA events to represent the CODA organization. c.
Partner with KODA camp/organization leaders to develop and publish a CODA to Koda mentoring program framework and e-guidelines as a resource for CODA-affiliated groups and Deaf community organizations. d. Partner with KODA camp/organization leaders to develop and publish a “How To” e-guidebook for establishing a new KODA camps as a resource for CODA-affiliated groups and Deaf community organizations. e. Partner with KODA/Deaf parent organizations to develop and publish relevant informational resources for families and professionals.
Enhance and promote informational resources for hearing children of Deaf parents, Deaf parents, educators, health care, and other social service providers. a. Provide relevant informational resources and research articles on the CODA website. b. Support and promote research that concentrates on hearing children of Deaf adults of all ages.

Strategic Goal II: Membership Development CODA-International will have a more clearly articulated membership value and active membership participation and support from members of diverse identities (e.g., race, gender, age, sexual orientation, etc.) and from various nations across the globe. Proposed Objectives & Strategies for Consideration II.1. Develop and implement a fundamental recruitment and retention plan. a. Define, articulate and promote the value and benefits of CODA membership. b. Develop organizational structures and staffing (volunteer) to support membership services and other operational tasks. II.2. Develop and implement strategies to specifically recruit members of diverse identities and from various nations across the globe. a. Form a sub-committee to address recruitment strategies for these populations. II.3. Develop and implement strategies to build a KODA to CODA membership pipeline. a. Create partnerships with KODA camps/organizations to provide CODA memberships for their non-member coda staff and volunteers. b. Expand and/or diversify fundraising efforts to support CODA memberships and conference scholarships for ages 18-21.
Strategic Goal III: Global Development CODA-International will ensure that the organization’s programs and services better support and foster global participation, commitment and collaboration. Proposed Objectives & Strategies for Consideration III.1. Establish a multi-language approach to officially communicate with CODA members across the globe. a. Conduct assessment and determine critical mass or high incidence languages among Deaf communities and coda populations that will be
targeted. b. Identify and obtain commitment of translators/web content managers for target languages. c.
Upgrade website and other vehicles of communication and social media to include all target languages for consistency of service to members and potential members across the globe.

Strategic Goal III: Global Development CODA-International will ensure that the organization’s programs and services better support and foster global participation, commitment and collaboration. III.2. Restructure the organization’s design into a federation-type of structure to provide greater equity and participation of individuals and CODA – affiliated organizations across the globe. (Note that this is also an objective for Goal IV as well.)
Strategic Goal IV: Organizational Effectiveness and Viability CODA-International will enhance its organizational structures, processes and operations to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness to better meet its mission and goals. Proposed Objectives & Strategies for Consideration IV.1. Restructure the organization’s design into a federation-type of structure to provide greater equity and participation of individuals and CODA – affiliated organizations across the globe. (Note that this is also an objective Goal III as well.) IV.2. Develop and/or officially implement a formal chapter or affiliate system. IV.3. Enhance the committee structures, leadership and membership to engage more members in doing the operational work of the organization. a. Create non-board leadership positions to support the Board of Directors in fulfilling essential operational functions, such as: membership services, public relations & outreach, I.T. & social media, fundraising & grants development. IV.4. Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that addresses current organizational goals and objectives. a. Create non-board “officer” or “coordinator” position to lead fundraising and grants development work.
b. Expand and/or diversify fundraising efforts to support CODA memberships and conference scholarships for ages 18-21. (Note that this strategy is noted under Goal II as well.) IV.5. Develop and implement a continuous improvement plan for the organization and its programs and services. Conduct conference evaluations and share results in a compilation report with participants and/or members. Conduct periodic organizational assessments to gather data on the effectiveness of CODA’s programs and services.
