Dear​ ​Parent/Guardian: The​ ​CHOICES​ ​Committee​ ​is​ ​a​ ​consortium​ ​of​ ​counselors​ ​and​ ​special​ ​educators​ ​that​ ​represent high​ ​schools​ ​in​ ​the​ ​northern​ ​suburbs​ ​of​ ​Chicago.​ ​ ​Each​ ​October,​ ​our​ ​consortium​ ​presents CHOICES:​ ​Postsecondary​ ​planning​ ​evening​ ​for​ ​college​ ​bound​ ​students​ ​with​ ​an​ ​IEP,​ ​504​ ​plan, Official​ ​Accommodations​ ​Plan,​ ​or​ ​history​ ​of​ ​a​ ​disability.​ ​ ​This​ ​year’s​ ​program​ ​will​ ​take​ ​place​ ​on Wednesday,​ ​October​ ​25,​ ​2017​ ​at​ ​Glenbrook​ ​North​ ​High​ ​School​ ​in​ ​Northbrook,​ ​Illinois.​ ​ P ​ lease visit​ ​the​ ​CHOICES​ ​website​ ​for​ ​directions​ ​to: Glenbrook​ ​North​ ​High​ ​School 2300​ ​Shermer​ ​Road Northbrook,​ ​Illinois Wednesday,​ ​October​ ​25,​ ​2017 www.postsecondarychoices.org CHOICES​ ​provides​ ​students​ ​with​ ​learning​ ​differences/special​ ​needs/disabilities,​ ​parents​ ​and educators​ ​with​ ​important​ ​information​ ​to​ ​assist​ ​in​ ​post-secondary​ ​transition​ ​planning.​ ​Last​ ​fall, approximately​ ​sixty​ ​colleges,​ ​universities​ ​and​ ​college​ ​transition​ ​programs​ ​sent​ ​learning differences/disability​ ​services​ ​representatives​ ​to​ ​the​ ​CHOICES​ ​college​ ​fair​ ​to​ ​meet​ ​with​ ​families. More​ ​than​ ​1,000​ ​students,​ ​parents,​ ​and​ ​school​ ​staff,​ ​attended​ ​the​ ​event.​ ​This​ ​year,​ ​our​ ​program will​ ​again​ ​offer​ ​a​ ​series​ ​of​ ​informational​ ​breakout​ ​sessions​ ​prior​ ​to​ ​the​ ​college​ ​fair. As​ ​usual,​ ​one​ ​of​ ​the​ ​evening’s​ ​highlights​ ​will​ ​be​ ​the​ ​availability​ ​of​ ​student​ ​disability​ ​service​ ​and admission​ ​representatives​ ​from​ ​higher​ ​education​ ​institutions​ ​and​ ​transition​ ​programs​ ​from across​ ​the​ ​country.​ ​ ​In​ ​addition,​ ​we​ ​have​ ​an​ ​amazing​ ​post-high​ ​school​ ​reference​ ​guide​ ​available to​ ​each​ ​family​ ​attending​ ​the​ ​fair.​ ​ ​This​ ​reference​ ​guide​ ​is​ ​always​ ​available​ ​on​ ​the​ ​CHOICES website​ ​as​ ​well. Over​ ​the​ ​years,​ ​this​ ​event​ ​has​ ​become​ ​one​ ​of​ ​the​ ​premier​ ​post-secondary​ ​focused​ ​conferences of​ ​its​ ​kind​ ​in​ ​the​ ​United​ ​States.​ ​ ​We​ ​sincerely​ ​hope​ ​you​ ​will​ ​make​ ​time​ ​to​ ​attend​ ​the​ ​CHOICES Post-secondary​ ​Planning​ ​Fair​ ​on​ ​Wednesday,​ ​October​ ​25,​ ​2017​ ​at​ ​Glenbrook​ ​North​ ​High School​ ​in​ ​Northbrook,​ ​IL.
