In this busy world, where we find ourselves at a crunch due to the sky rocketing prices of food, travel and anything fun, how do we manage balancing our social life without these prices leaving a hole in our pocket? The Literary Review Supriya Krishnamurthy & Subha Wijesiriwardena When we tried to examine the term “flash fiction” and what it entailed, we found a plethora of sub-genres: hint fiction, drabble, one-line stories. We then invited Carmelites to send us stories in no more than 140 characters – the standard length of a Twitter status. We thought this was appropriate in many ways, mainly as a way of exploring how new media technology may have affected our style of story-telling. Then we found that this was a category in itself: twitterfiction. We present to you some of our favourite pieces of twitterfiction from OneFortyFiction.com and 140 Characters on Twitter, as well as the selected entries from the Carmelites’ attempts.
