Calumet County Council Veterans Service Officer: Not present District Vice-Commander: Not present Committee Reports: Ken Geiger reported on the Badger Boy/Girl Orientation for Calumet and Manitowoc Counties that was held at Brillion High School on April 23rd. Ken stated that 20 boys and 22 girls were in attendance. Ladies from Manitowoc County Auxiliary (mostly Reedsville) provided refreshments. The presenters were Jean Conradt and Russ Handsetter. They are two of the best in the State. Thank you Ken and Post 128 for all your work organizing and hosting the event. Commander reported on the Birthday Banquet. There was over 79 dinners served. He was happy how it turned out. He also reported that he is working with the Post trying to help them obtain 100 percent membership. There was considerable discussion of a report that is needed with the names of all area veterans eligible for American Legion membership. Sharon Woefel Nett will continue to try and get the needed report. Old Business: None New Business: County Youth Government Day needs to change. Work responsibility is changed at the county court house and Beth Hauser wants and needs the help of the American Legion to make our program a great program. The Commander stated that he already has two volunteers, Jim Stecker and Herb Buhl and would like to have two more. The commander asked for volunteers and there were none. He’ll ask again next month. Commander and Jim Stecker brought up that the flags used by the County, especially the one for fallen County Police Officers is in bad repair and we should “step-up to the plate” and replace them. Jim estimates the cost to be $125. A motion was made by Jim Stecker and seconded by Ken Geiger to proceed with the purchase of all three flags. Motion was approved by the majority present. Commander read his agenda notes on the Birthday Banquet and a Thank You note he received from Mary Euclide. Banquet was a success. District Officers Jeff Puddy and Jerry Laubey attended. Guest Speaker was Lt. Colonel Rich Appel. Entertainment was provided by the Party Band. A good time was had by all who attended. Commander was asked at the DEC meeting on March 12th to try and help the County Posts that have not already obtained 100 percent membership. He agreed to try………. Spring Conference at Kingston Post 395 on April 27th. There will be a bid at the meeting for host the Fall Conference. No posts expressed interest.
