ELPHIN DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: Led by Bishop Kevin Doran takes place on Sun 17tll Aug 2014 @2.30pm with the anointing ofthe sick in the Basilica followed by Mass, Blessed Sacrament and Rosary Procession @3pm. A new YOUTH dimension is being added this year and we would like two young people from each parish to take part. There will be a special place for them in the Basilica during the ceremonies. Anybody interested give names to Fr. Vincent and two youths will be choosen. DECEASED PLEASE PRAY for repose of soul of Rosanne (Breda) Fleming/Quinn, sister of Gerard Fleming Greenville & Geraldine Kilgannon (Mount Bellew) who died recently in Florida. POPE FRANCIS SAYS MONEY IS A NEW FALSE GOD: To protect human life we need God's commandment: "Thou shalt trot kill". Something else is killing today and so we also need to say: "Thou shalt not .let money rule ". Uncontrolled capitalism is a new tyranny, a hew false god as the powerful feed on the powerless. As time goes by the resources of the world are more and more concentrated in the hands of the few. To save us from this growing crisis we need morality in the world of money. I WORDS FROM OUR NEW BISHO~. My dear people, I want to thank you all for the very warm welcome that you have given me since my appointment as bishop. Since my arrival I have become aware of the generous service given by many of our priests who continue in active ministry even after the normal retirement age of seventy five. We dc 'ha+e ten priests who are either in wellearned retirement or are no longer able to work due to illness; together they have given almost 500 years of service to our parishes. We need to ensure that they have accommodation, income to cover their essential living costs and healthcare. The priests of the diocese already contribute, out of their own income, most of what is required to support the sick and retired priests but recently the funds are low. Our annual collection for the Sick Priests Fund takes place next weekend 2nd/3rd August and I would ask you to be as generous as yotr circumstances allow. A donation of €10 would seem appropriate, given that there are 10 men to be supported, but whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. I take this opportunity to thank you for the generous support and encruragement that you give the priests in their ministry. + Kevin Doran I

We pray for those who feel threatened and overwhelmed by their pregnancy. Intercede for them, that God may give them the grace to say yes and the courage to go on. May they have the grace to reject the false solution of abortion. May they say with you, "Be it done unto me according to your word. May they experience the help of Christian people, and know the peace that comes from God. Amen. 11
