Call for expressions of interest in serving on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) Europe Steering Group To promote and strengthen the use of research evidence for decision-making processes in public health and health care delivery systems, WHO’s Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) was launched in 2005 (http://global.evipnet.org/) and EVIPNet Europe was subsequently launched in October 2012 (http://www.euro.who.int/en/data-and-evidence/evidence-informed-policy-making/evidenceinformed-policy-network-evipnet). Purpose and functions of the Steering Group The EVIPNet Europe Steering Group (SG) plays an essential role as a regional consultative advisory body providing advice and recommendations as well as ad hoc expertise necessary for operational and technical support. The SG also acts as a catalyst and supporter of EVIPNet Europe at regional and country levels, and facilitates partnerships and collaborations to share experiences and lessons learned across regions. The SG reports to the WHO Secretariat of EVIPNet Europe which provides overall coordinating and regulatory function for the network. The members’ appointment will be renewed on an annual basis at the discretion of the Secretariat. The SG will have a consultative, informatory relationship with the European Advisory Committee on Health and Research (EACHR). It will meet regularly via teleconference, and occasionally in person, to follow-up, coordinate and support the regional network activities. The members commit to active and regular participation in the SG activities amounting to a total of 1 week per year, in addition to teleconference calls every 2–3 months. Please note that members do not receive any remuneration from WHO; however, when attending meetings by invitation of the Organization, they will be entitled to reimbursement of travelling expenses and to a daily living allowance during such meetings. WHO is seeking individuals with the following core skills and experience: Extensive and internationally renowned experience in knowledge translation (KT) and evidenceinformed policy-making. Expertise in health systems research, health policy analysis and network management to provide seasoned strategic advice in the planning, operationalization and execution of EVIPNet Europe’s activities and initiatives. Well-connected networks and associations with the scientific community in the region, particularly in the area of KT and evidence-informed policy-making. Proficiency in English. WHO is also seeking individuals with skills and experience in one of the following areas: Area 1: KT methods Extensive experience in KT methodological advancements and innovations (including research synthesis and packaging, interactive approaches, context mapping, KT capacity building, etc.). Practical experience in technical reviews of KT products and applications.
Area 2: Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) Recognized expertise in the field of strategic information collection and analysis, results and performance reporting, and M&E framework development. Extensive experience in the development and implementation of research protocols, research methodologies and program evaluation. Area 3: Communication and fundraising Ability to access, engage and communicate with various stakeholders including funders and national and regional teams. Expertise on documenting, packaging and disseminating program results as well as the development of country-led proposals to funders. Proficiency in Russian.
