CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Symposium: Forgotten Liberators – A “Decolonised” History of the Third World in World War II The symposium, to be held under the aegis of the Steve Biko Foundation, the Denis Goldberg Foundation and the Centre for Leadership Ethics at University of Fort Hare, accompanies the opening of an exhibition of the same name at the Steve Biko Centre, One Zotshie Street, Ginsberg, King William’s Town (eQonce), Eastern Cape. The innovative exhibition, Forgotten Liberators – A “Decolonised” History of the Third World in World War II, considers and pays tribute to the colonised people who played a vital and neglected role in the fight against fascism during the Second World War. It is envisaged that papers will represent work in progress presented by researchers working on topics related to the theme, of the situation of the so-called “third world” in World War II or its effect on decolonisation in the new world order that emerged from it. The symposium will take place on Thursday 5 July 2018 at the Steve Biko Centre, One Zotshie Street, Ginsberg, King William’s Town (eQonce), Eastern Cape. Time allocated for the presentation of each paper will be twenty-five minutes, and time will be allocated for discussion of each paper or group of papers. THE CLOSING DATE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO WEDNESDAY 20 JUNE 2018. Full papers to be sent in electronic format to facilitate possible publication after the symposium, to Dr Chris Allsobrook (UFH) at
