Foundation Stage Transition Workshop

by Mr. Duncan Millward

On  Thursday  morning,  just  in  time  for  the  Air  Raid  drill  in  Taipei,  Ms  Karen  Rowe  and  Mr  Duncan  Millward  shared  with  Foundation  Stage  parents those areas that stay the same, and areas that will be different  for  their  children  moving  from  Nursery  to  Reception,  and  from  Reception  to  Year  1.  Transition  is  always  a  time  where  parents  and  students are a little nervous about what is coming next. We do our best  to  allay  any  fears  and  because  we  are  one  primary  school,  staff  work  so  closely  together  to  ensure  there is always smooth transition for our students.

Technology for Learning

by Mr. Duncan Millward

On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we had a visit from a Technology Learning Consultant, Kim Cofino. She is working with our section over the    next  18  months  to  ensure  that  our  use  of  technology  within  the  curriculum  is  purposeful  and  ensuring  that  our  children  are  well  prepared  for  the  technological age they are moving to. She will be working with all staff in regards to the use of technology. Kim has a wealth of experience as an  international  educator,  and  is  currently  Consultant  in  Residence  at  NIST  International  School,  Director  of  Learning,  Founding  Partner  at  Eduro  Learning and Co‐founder at COETAIL.

TES Victory League – Clean Sweep for TES Saturday Football Teams! by Mr. Kerry Nockolds   We want to send out big congratulations to all the TES students that  competed in the inaugural TES Victory League!  The concept of the league was borne from the desire to give our avid  TES footballers the opportunity to play regular competitive matches  against other teams of the same age in the Taipei community.   In Taiwan opportunities for regular competitive football are few, apart  from the Saturday Football hosting of 1 day tournaments, there is  nothing like the weekly, regular competition of a league to raise the  development levels of the individual and the team. So with the  administrative organisation of our TES ECA coaching group MFA, the  Sunday TES Victory League was set up for Under‐8, Under‐10 and  Under‐12 age groups, plus a one‐day tournament for U‐6.

Over the course of the last 5 months, playing several Sundays a month,  teams from TES’ Saturday Football  have been competing against other  local teams to see how their hard work training in ECAs and with  Saturday Football was preparing them for competitive football with  others in their age groups!   After a hard season with lots of tough matches played, the final week,  th Sunday April 26 , saw an amazing “Festival of Football” which  culminated in the League winning teams receiving their prizes. All the  children did brilliantly and had an amazing experience, and we  celebrated the teamwork, perseverance, that playing team sports  engenders.  However we would like to send a big congratulations out to the winning  teams across all age groups.
