Chinese New Year Celebrations elebrations! by Mr. Peter Sloan Happy Chinese New Year! Throughout today (Friday) we have held a number of assemblies for different age groups to celebrate Chinese New Year. Our assemblies were organised by staff from our Chinese Language and Culture team and brought together children from all three sections. The assemblies were a tremendous time of celebration and fun and everyone delighted in watching performances from children from different year groups. We had lots of dancing, acting and singing with an added bonus of a performance by the BSHS Drummers. It was a fantastic show and a brilliant way to start Chinese New Year. The finale was wonderful as some amazing Lion Dancers from BSHS joined the assembly and danced their way out of the amphitheatre. The assemblies were a really fantastic trisection event as the children from our three sections came together to celebrate an event central to the heart of our home nation, Taiwan. Many thanks to all the staff from our Chinese and Language Culture team for creating such a positive and purposeful opportunity for celebration and unity.

From everyone at BPS we wish you a healthy, happy and successful Year of the Rooster.

Chinese New Year Market Chinese New Year market is a fair held annually a few days before Chinese New Year. It's really busy but fun for Chinese Chi people to do the preparation. People will go to the market to buy some food, flowers and in the market, there are some games for the children too. The CLC team were keen to give the students this kind k of experience. Teachers prepared their own stalls which included food, games and

Bus Service Semester 2 fees due

5

by Mr. Kerry Nockolds

Lovrincevic

This semester the t bus fees are being made via the AOS,, so if you haven’t already done so, please make sure you have put the money onto your family AOS account, and then go to press “JOIN”. Reminders have been sent but there are a number of parents that have yet to press the “Join” button. Please refer to my letter, sent out in November 2016, explaining the change in payment procedure, via AOS not via invoice with school tuitions tuitions. Attached also was a full “step-by-step step guide” which showed exactly which button to press to complete the process. If you want this sent to you again please contact the Students Services office, but simply put it is actually exactly the same process as paying for anything on AOS, like paying a field trip which we have all done many times. The buss fee for your child/children has been set up based on the bus route used in semester 1, (unless instructed otherwise by parents) and the corresponding bus fee also set up on AOS. The original deadline date (January 16th 2017) has been extended to assist those parents that have not yet pressed “Join” to confirm their child’s seat. So the final due date for paying your child’s bus fee is now February 2nd 2017 as the bus service starts on Monday February 6th. Please Note: If your bus fee has not b been paid byy this time, it will be taken that parents do not wish their child to take the bus service in semester 2 and so they will not be included on the bus route schedule which Ms. Natalie Wu sends out prior to the start of the semester. If you are not sure if you ou have paid, please go into your AOS account to double check. We appreciate each parent’s help in confirming this, so no child goes to get the bus when they are not expected to be there.

Thank you very much.

Mr. Kerry Nockolds Director of Educational Services
