Questions/Answers ¡ I understand many of the new developments in our district fall under a TIF program. It’s not clear if the increased tax levy will be assessed to those properties? If those properties will be assessed the increased, will the revenue go to the developer of the SID or to the school? ¡ The TIF development homeowners will see the same tax increase as everyone else. The tax revenue that is levied will go to pay off the TIF debt which was incurred by the developer for the project infrastructure (such as streets, etc), this is not additional revenue to the developer. ¡ This in turn gets the properties on the general tax rolls, and thus tax revenues flowing to the school district and other political subdivisions sooner than would otherwise be the case.
Questions/Answers ¡ Why did the school district create a plan that kept a campus in Valley and another in Waterloo instead of moving all students to a single campus location? ¡ During a year long study with a steering committee of 50 citizens, Board and staff members, the committee supported leaving a school presence in each community that makes up the district and not moving to a single campus. ¡ A single campus on a neutral site was cost prohibitive due to limited availability of land, all prospects of available land being in the flood plain and significant infrastructure costs for grading, power, sewer, and gas.
Questions/Answers ¡ DC West Community Schools has shared that they have had an average of 4% growth since 2008. The Omaha AAA Hockey Club students started to attend our high school during this time. Is the growth only because of that club? ¡ No, the Omaha AAA Hockey Club students are not the only source of growth. The following is the breakout of enrollment growth over the past 7 years~ ¡ 2008-09= 657 students 4% 2011-12= 716 students 2% 2014-15= 836 students 5% ¡ 2009-10= 676 students 3% 2012-13= 743 students 4% ¡ 2010-11= 701 students 4% 2013-14= 792 students 6%
¡ 7 year average= 4% Increase of 183 students from 2008-2014 ¡ * 25 Omaha AAA Hockey Club started attending in 2012 ¡ * 49 total Omaha AAA Hockey Club students stable since 2013
