August 2016 On behalf of the entire Bow School Board, I would like to welcome you to the 2016 - 2017 school year. Now that the summer break is coming to a close, a renewed energy can be felt throughout the schools - and we thank the many hands that readied the buildings and grounds over the past few months. Our school district remains committed to quality education, and we recognize that parental involvement is an integral piece to a successful equation. To that end, there are a multitude of opportunities for our parents to become involved, and we encourage parents to remain active. Whether at the classroom level, the school level, or perhaps even at the district level - we encourage all parents to play an active role in their child's education. School organizations like the Bow P.T.0., Bow POPS, and Bow Boosters also rely on parental involvement and serve as an exceptional opportunity to showcase talents. The Bow School Board holds monthly meetings at the Bow High School. Held on the first Thursday of each month, all residents are encouraged to attend. There are several opportunities for public comment, and your input is welcomed and valued. Please reference the "Districts" menu item on the Bow School District website - www.bownet.org - for a link to the Bow School Board and updated information on meetings, agenda items, contact information, and other important committee level items. Among the responsibilities of the School Board is setting policy for the district, formulating and recommending a budget to the taxpayers at the March Annual Meeting, and approving curriculum and hiring nominations for the district. The School Board also serves as the last appeal in the district for many issues after the appropriate processes have been exhausted.
